Re: I Dreamed a Dream
I had a dream last night in which my dad and I were trying to figure out what had been eating our chickens, and by looking at a footprint in the mud we saw that it must have been a dinosaur. The dinosaur had apparently eaten my sister, too, which I viewed as a minor detail. I then dreamed that I wok...

Re: #67784--Best covers
I also particularly love this barbershop quartet arrangement of And So It Goes. The awesome thing is that one of those guys is my roommate, and they practice in our apartment quite a bit. Free live music about once a week? Heck yes.

#67784--Best covers
I just realized today, to my horror, that none of the answers to this question mentioned the Beatles' version of Twist and Shout. That has got to be both one of the best and one of the most successful covers of all time.

Rather than keep occupying this thread, I'll message you all the relevant information. Short answer, we do a bunch of different things Fall semester and then spend all of Winter semester getting ready for the Hunger Banquet.

Re: General Encore Rules
I was actually assuming that word repetition wasn't normally allowed, but since allowing it is the default, that's what I'll go with.

Encore: LDS Canon
In this round, song lyrics must contain the name of a book of scripture in the LDS canon. It can be the book as a whole (i.e. the Bible) or one of the books (i.e. Matthew) or official subdivisions (i.e. the New Testament) within it. You only need the common name, not the full one (i.e. Matthew, rath...

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to
Summer reading so far: Day of Empire: How Hyperpowers Rise to Global Dominance--and Why They Fall (Amy Chua) Reinventing the Bazaar: A Natural History of Markets (John McMillan) and currently, Out of Poverty: What Works When Traditional Approaches Fail (Paul Polak) All three books are awesome, but t...

Haha, those... the ones we made were more cartoons than notes, but the ward called them "nice notes" so we did too.

Yeah, my 'nym isn't exactly gender-specific. And I have a calling in the Primary. I was wondering if anyone would make an assumption like that.

Regained testimonies
I was actually thinking about asking a question very similar to http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/67813/ (that is, asking if any writers had ever lost and regained their testimony). It's something that happened to me--in high school, I had a series of experiences that, like the husband of the person...

Re: Introduce Yourselves!
I still know fairly little about what I want to end up doing. I know I want to work in Latin America, and I figure that the next couple years will give me a clearer picture of what I want to do. (I've only been in my major for a year.) Are you involved with Students for International Development? (A...

Re: three hours of church
Over the past year, in my student ward, my roommates and I would write each other nice notes (and by "nice notes" I mean something that could better be described as "mean notes") instead of paying attention. Now that I'm in my home ward for the summer, I don't have to worry about...

Re: Desktop Backgrounds
Funny thing was, I didn't actually know where to find the pictures, so I would just use print screen and edit from there. But that meant all the icons had to stay in the same place as when the background was printscreened or it would look weird. There's actually a prank you can pull in which you ta...

Re: Encore: Occupations
True, but there are reapers other than the grim variety. We just don't hear about them anymore because of modern farm equipment. (I did take that quite thoroughly out of context, though, if that's what you were referring to.) "Then the cook would appear from behind the scenes and say in a voice...

What kind of humanitarian work do you want to do? (I want to work in international development, hence my curiosity.)

Re: Encore: Occupations
I suppose I shall do that now, then. Thank goodness we're doing this over the weekend when I actually have internet access for more than an hour or two per day; otherwise it would take about as long as the regular rounds. "Don't fear the reaper , baby I'm your man." -Blue Oyster Cult, &quo...
