Also, my FHE brother has said yes to using his car. So we've got another five seats.

Re: If A Guy...
It's not just Mormons. My high school had only two Mormons, and EVERYBODY asked creatively for formal dances. I'm pretty sure Mormons are the only people who keep the tradition alive after high school, though. Thankfully, it seems to die out after freshman year, at least until it's time for the ult...

Re: If A Guy...
If it's a formal thing--such as a dance--I would say ask in person (or creatively...) but not over text. However, I personally don't have a whole lot of qualms about being asked out over IM or text. Then again...I've only been asked at over the phone once, and in person...twice? I think?

Re: If A Guy...
Thus the thread. I have no idea if it was a date. Or if he thought it was a date. Though, I have been asked out on a date--clearly labeled as such--before over text, and I didn't really think anything of it. It didn't really bug me since it was our normal mode of communication, and we were in two di...

Re: If A Guy...
My guy friends are absolutely insistent that you shouldn't ask a girl out over text, and if he does so, the girl should reject his asking. So that's why it seems ambiguous--he asks over a text, but doesn't use the word "date", and it's hard to tell if it was intended to be a date.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
It was really hard this past summer for me when one of my friends mentioned some religious questions he'd had. I knew the answers--they were in the Book of Mormon--but he refused to accept that it could even partially be true.

Re: If A Guy...
The scenario you mention sounds familiar, yayfulness.
I think that makes it fairly clear that it's a date. If it's, something like "would you like to go to ______________ tonight?" and not much more details than where to meet up, it's ambiguous.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
That was probably the most common explanation I gave in high school for any Mormon principle. I'd have to say on a bi-monthly basis it came up... Can I ask where you grew up? I think in my suburban Texas town there were enough Mormons that people knew a little about us, and there were enough other ...

Yep. I'm voting for the Friday night. Mostly because it'll be the optimal time to do stuff.

So, it's not just the three P's, but also the intent of all participating parties. Where the system breaks down is when the participating parties have conflicting views.

Re: If A Guy...
Which I have been, several times. I've come home saying "I THINK that was a date, but I'm not sure." Which sometimes seems like a nitpicky complaint--if you went, and you had a good time, what does it matter what you call it? But then again, since date DOES have a connotation of romantic ...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I really dislike calling people. I'm responsible for calling about thirty people to tell them about an upcoming event and I can't bring myself to do it. And...it has to get done today...
