Re: Buying a House
Thanks for the additional thoughts. I've definitely made sure to ask about HOA fees and what they cover, but getting a ballpark figure on the other utility costs is a great idea that I've overlooked so far. I also really like the idea of driving over at night. It could be a different experience comp...

Re: Buying a House
Thank you all. These are great things to keep in mind as I look.
I'm really considering a townhouse specifically because I won't want the outside maintenance.
It feels like such a major decision that I am making it worse than it is in reality. I appreciate the advice and feedback.

Buying a House
I'm officially looking for a house/townhouse/condo to buy. I'm pretty nervous, since I'm a first time homebuyer. I know I've seen several of you go through the process. Do you have any advice/recommendations?

Re: Fitbit?
I have the charge hr. I love it. It makes me a lot more aware of how sedentary I am being. Also, the best part, in my opinion, is the challenge feature. A lot of my friends and family have fitbits, so we are frequently in daily or weekly challenges. The competition usually (but not always) increases...

I think they jumped to speaking about a temple recommend because you used the phrase "honest in your dealings with your fellow men." Being from Nevada, I am not a Harry Reid fan at all, and I've often wondered the same thing. It seems like in some careers there are things you do that are j...

I don't know, but I have found it extremely annoying as well, so I'm glad that they said they wouldn't be taking any more Kevin questions.

Firefight came out today!
I'll want to re-read Steelheart before I actually read it, but I'm so excited!

Re: New laptop
Owlet, I think Photoshop can be installed on two machines. I would deactivate it from your old computer once you have your new one (that way it doesn't count as one of the two machines).

I don't comment very often, but ditto.
That sense of entitlement....goodness!
Also, just because you've provided service in the past doesn't mean that you're guaranteed to have the same services provided to you in the future.

Re: Surrogacy
Some friends in my ward are having a surrogate right now (although they would correct me and call her a gestational carrier. I have to admit I don't know the difference between the two.). They said it was surprisingly easy to "get permission". (I don't think they were looking for permissio...

Re: Ordain Women
I will be honest. I don't know where I stand on this issue. On the one hand, I believe if and when the time comes that God wants to ordain women, He will reveal it through the prophet. On the other hand...I am one of those single adult women who basically has no place in the church. I don't have som...

Re: Food deliveries in the MTC
My brother used to work in the health center, and one of his coworkers came over a few times a week to work in the MTC health center. One time I got called down over the loudspeaker in the middle of class to come to the health center. When I got there, there was freshly baked hot monkey bread (cinna...

Re: books read this year
I have no idea how many books I've read this year, but seeing all of your numbers makes me wish I kept track. I probably average 2-3 books per week. That's just a guess though. It could easily be higher than that. I am more of a fiction person than a non fiction person, and I have been on a YA kick. ...

Re: General Women's meeting
I'm not in love with the idea of combining the meetings. I don't mind the twice a year, but I just think that separating by ages allows the talks to be geared towards those age groups. I'm willing to see how it goes, but I feel like it will turn into a Relief Society broadcast that the young women (...

Re: prayer and romantic relationships
I vaguely remember a talk from John Bytheway about this - how when he was dating his wife he didn't really get strong spiritual impressions one way or the other, so basically his entire relationship his prayers were basically "stop me if I'm wrong..." (I'm totally paraphrasing what I remem...

Re: 74240 - Helping a friend with an eating disorder
100% agree with you.
I worked at an eating disorders clinic for several years, and it takes more than family/friend support.
And 500 calories a day or less isn't just disordered eating. It is an eating disorder, whether they want to call it that or not.

Re: Headaches
Saltine crackers help them keep down the nausea. See if you can munch on enough to make the Excedrin safe. Most of their other solutions are food as well, but I'll go ask if they have any other ideas. Agree. I get really bad headaches frequently as well, and excedrin is my go-to for bad ones. I kno...
