Re: Doesn't seem like people use this forum anymore.

I didn’t for years, but some spambot sent me a message from here today reminding me that this board still existed. Last time I visited was right after my mission, and now I’m married with 2 kids. :D Anyone else get the spambot message?

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die

On the other hand, I'm visiting my sister in Hawaii and it is a beautiful summer here all year long it seems. We saw an injured sea turtle today, and we are unsure if you can still get fined if a sea turtle touches you instead of the other way around.

Re: Conference

So after posting, I read a quick read that we had around our house called, "Rules of Engagement" by Stephanie Fowers, with the setting of the book being BYU. It pretty much outlines why, in the author's mind, guys can be non-committal from a narrative perspective. Maybe general authorities...

Re: Conference

How is the reaction in Provo over the repeating subject of relationships (specifically guys looking for marriage instead of hanging out) in conference? My first thought (besides "this is awkward" because we had Elders over watching conference with us) was, "Did something catastrophic ...

Re: Anyone love the MTC?

Yep, I loved the MTC as well, and felt like I needed to stay the 2 or 3 months instead of the 2.5 weeks because I was unsure about knowing the lessons. A large portion of my district was incredibly stir crazy to get out, though. Anytime we had MDT, we had to write where we were going on the chalkboa...

Re: Dating multiple girls (62580)

Ok, so his wording was strange. But mostly it sounded, to me, like he's nerdy and trying to understand social aspects through his nerdy glasses. ... I'm guessing his frustration over various types of girls has come from experience with those types of girls. He's saying, "I know these girls exi...

Re: Dress suits/Mormon culture

Everyone needs to calm down just a notch; this argument sounds hostile enough to make less-active members. Each of us have individual personalities that are wonderful, and not all women are going to have the same type of poise as their grandma had, and that is not bad. Conformity may be stifling for...

Re: Encore -- Spring

Florida is not having a good beginning of spring. Tornadoes + tents + airplanes are no fun. My dad and I almost went down there, actually. What's up with the tents and airplanes? There's a fly-in event that happens annually called Sun 'n Fun in Florida, and it happened to be this week. Yesterday th...

Re: Dress suits/Mormon culture

Do you think the reader was referring to suit sets in general or purely to suits with pants? In my mission we had to wear a suit coat with our skirts if we were not wearing an actual dress to meetings, to present our best self to ward council. As to wearing pants to church, especially with investiga...

Re: college without technology (#62445)

http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/62445/ Based on the examples she used, it sounds like the question asker finds it hard to imagine experiencing college the way I experienced it. That makes me feel incredibly old. Of course, if she really meant to go without all technology, including, say, lightbul...

There was a cardinal stuck in our storage room today! It took quite some time to get it out, with added chaos of my mom freaking out about it.

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die

Thanks! Don't worry C4, I'm not the crossing type, usually. Given my new RM status, it'll probably be a while until I'm too uppity. Wow, Chess Boxing. Anyone see something wrong with ward leaders asking yesterday for confirmation on what my favorite scripture is for my missionary plaque? Not ...

I'm home from my mission and shell-shocked. It is so weird to not answer the phone like a missionary!

May I suggest Mac Mabry's introduction to his Reflections of Christ book. Stop by the bookstore and read it sometime-- I read it at Barnes and Noble the other day, and I find it highly applicable to this conversation and as an interesting perspective to art.

Strawberry smoothies or milkshakes. I love blending frozen strawberries with some lemon juice. It's an amazing sorbet. I want some.

You know what I mean-- to the general population. Within an LDS population, it means a variety of things, ranging from "What is wrong with you that you aren't married yet?" to "Wow! Now you can go on a mission! That's so exciting!" The former I actually thought when I was younger...

I'm 21! That means nothing besides getting off my parent's insurance, but I'm pretty stoked anyway. The only people that don't consider me an adult now are car rental agencies.
