I've heard far too many lessons and testimonies on the Spirit World that are based on other people's near-death/coma experiences. That's always fun.

Actually I just grabbed notes from my last class that dealt with the topic and copied them over. I've never even heard of Dr. Zunes, although apparently that professor has. I find that fairly amusing, considering the professor is a very active right-winger. Yes, I do have Israeli friends. Real live ...

Wow. I hadn't seen that before. I absolutely do not agree with The Captain's assessment. The question asked was not fair, and neither was the response. In fact I found it downright hateful. Calling the Palestinians Nazis and pro-Holocaust bothers me, and is untrue. It seems like The Captain was figh...

Pretend like there's some witty or significant opening line here, since the one's that are coming to me will inevitably involve inserting my foot in my mouth later. The great thing about this open forum is that you get the chance to call us out if we're wrong or call us flaming idiots if that's what...

FYI, once you're over 22 you can apply for federal aid grants without reporting your parents income. So...for this next year if you were born in 1985 or earlier you only have to report your personal income on FAFSA.

I quite agree. In an emergency situation you've got to do what's necessary to keep people from being hurt. I meant sitting on a jury or as a judge and having to decide to take someone's life. I'm not sure I could do that. Especially if their family were there. And who decides to become an executione...

My re-rant (mostly because I think this is an interesting topic and I like picking at arguments) 1. Who gets to decide that someone is worthy of death? I understand the reasoning behind the death penalty, but I have serious issues with being able to decide that someone will die. I would never be abl...

I believe that there are those who intentionally (at some level) become infatuated with those they consider non-marriageable. Perhaps as a defense against marriage.
Amen.

Politics goes through swings of the pendulum. After 8 years of neocon political dominance, the pendulum will swing the other way. Nearly all political bodies swing between security and liberty. Since 9/11 we've been so far swung towards security that we're bound to swing towards liberty. And eventua...

That makes more sense in context. Thank you for adding those paragraphs. I think one thing that makes Western imperialism appear worse is that there's been a great deal of it in the last century, after two terrible world wars and after international laws were passed on human rights. Or perhaps it's ...

Certainly. It's kind of like a family. There are siblings who share toys. They fight and squabble among each other and toys change hands relatively frequently. Sometimes they despise each other, sometimes they get along. The siblings are in their house engaged in their normal (albeit contentious) pl...

Ironically, I find Mr. Sowell lacking in historical vision. There is a vast difference between tribal conflict and foreign occupation. It's not simply a matter of land being taken. Who does the taking is key.

This may entirely be hearsay, as I have done literally ZERO research to back this up, but the word on the street (from my Californian roommate) is that there are a number of states that are waiting to jump on the bandwagon if homosexual marriage becomes fully legalized in California. The "so wh...

Great excerpt from Craig's letter: "I went on exchanges with another elder in my pad and a third (Elder T from Hawai'i) and we had a very good time. We visited a hospitalized member and basically tore it up there and on the trains and in the other stuff (aka FINDING) that we did. It was a lot ...
