Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

bob, I'm totally going to be a wife-snob here and say you should see a physical therapist-- they'll know the quickest and most efficient way to have your wrists heal properly. I naturally have weak wrists (my husband says my carpal bones are a little longer and looser than average) and so I have the...

If that were an actual Board answer, Gio, it probably would've been marked Editor's Choice. ;)

Re: Hobbies

I know I'm a little late here, but I get almost all of my basket weaving supplies at basketweaving.com. (Who knew?) I have yet to be able to find supplies locally, unless you consider a 2-hour drive to Amish Country as local. I love basket weaving, it's so much fun. :) I would totally give you (or a...

Re: Answers I liked

Well, and in addition to what Katya said, in the former version of the Board you would create a 'nym when you made a Board account. You didn't have to necessarily use said 'nym when you asked a question, but regardless of whether you were a reader or a writer you still technically had a 'nym attache...

Re: I Dreamed a Dream

I admit I totally had a Legend of Korra dream last night, too. (I couldn't help it, I was just SO excited for the season finale.) I dreamed that New Team Avatar + General Iroh kicked the Equalists' butts but Amon got away and they didn't reveal anything about him and then season 1 ended on a major c...

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to

Make sure you listen to yesterday's episode of Writing Excuses! It was Brandon Sanderson's turn for Project in Depth and he answers questions about The Way of Kings. It was awesome. (Though you may not want to listen to it until after you've finished the book.)

Whistler, there's no such thing as playing too much Dragon Age. And if they don't announce anything about DA3 at E3 in a couple weeks I am going to cry.

Re: #67439 - Wedding rings

42, the same thing happened to me. I stopped wearing my engagement ring and wedding band for a while (almost 3 years) because suddenly they were slightly too big. They started to fit fairly nicely again during pregnancy though I only wore my band. With the weather warming up hopefully my band will s...

Re: Galvanized steel

Yeah, I bet misting them with cool water every day or so would help, too. Maybe you could even try putting ice cubes on top of the soil to help keep the roots a little cooler on the really hot days. I think it's worth it-- it's a really neat look for an herb garden.

Re: Galvanized steel

In one of my container gardening books, it says metal containers, including galvanized steel, should be just fine for growing plants. There are two concerns: make sure there are drainage holes in the bottom, and if you live in a really hot, sunny area make sure the container doesn't fry your plants'...

Re: Fruit Salad

Adding powdered sugar to the heavy whipping cream would give it a better texture. I like to fold in a little bit of vanilla extract after it's been whipped up, too. If you're putting some fruit that browns after it's been cut up (e.g., bananas, apples, etc.) then adding a little bit of lemon or oran...

Re: House Plants

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the only other plant we encountered in our class that had mother-in-law as one of its common names was the golden barrel cactus (Echinocactus grusonii) which is also called mother-in-law's chair. Hah.

Re: House Plants

Yeah, I totally killed a peace lily once, too. Then I took an interior plants class at BYU and learned that they can be a little picky about certain things. So, speaking of that class, just to clear up any confusion I busted out my old ID charts from it. Mother-in-law's tongue is also called a snake...

If anyone is confused about Portia's comment on slings, I would recommend they watch the movie Away We Go. Maggie Gyllenhaal's character should explain everything.

Re: Dinners after giving birth

Geez, you're all so lucky to have family come and actually help out. When my in-laws (2 parents + 2 brothers-in-law) visited a week after Baby Bones was born, I (with husband's help) did all of their cleaning, washed all of their laundry and made all of their meals for them. I was so shocked when th...
