Re: Emoticons
Awww, C! You're not an alien fan? That's okay. Maybe we should just discount it altogether. I've been watching Spielberg's "Taken" recently, so I'm extra into aliens.
Re: Emoticons
The smilies also have oblong faces, not unlike aliens. (That's a point in their favor. )

Re: Expensive books
Today I bought a textbook for fun at the Bookstore. It was originally 40$ but since it was discontinued it was actually 20$.
More importantly, I bought another discounted book the price of which was lowered to 13 cents! What are the cheapest books everyone has bought?

Re: People who don't read the syllabus
My favorite first day quote, not about the syllabus but hilariously dumb:
"Is the current events quiz over the previous week's news or the next week's?"

Re: Buried in Temple Clothing
On the site I linked to in that response it said that if anybody is uncomfortable with having their own temple clothes shown at their funeral, or if the people directing the funeral are uncomfortable with it they can put something over the deceased during the viewing. I imagine it is okay in that co...

All of your comments here are really interesting. It sounds like most of us are pretty well grounded :D New comments keep coming in for this question! Apparently the Board *is* the readers' forum now ;) Just kidding. But seriously, the latest comment made me wonder something. It seems like the peopl...

Re: Expensive books
@thebigcheese I'm considering buying a few textbooks from the BYU Bookstore for fun. There are just so many great texts there, especially for language learning.

Re: Rules on tipping
Whenever my boyfriend and I are at a restaurant where the service was less than satisfactory, we make sure to leave a very small tip then write on the receipt what the problem was. It doesn't happen often, but we want to let them know why we did it :P I hope they understand our reasoning and aren't ...

Mico could be feminized, but it was "Mico" on the "List of Latin Names" and "Mico" I shall remain. :) Interesting about the Italian though. I knew an American guy in my Chinese classes who called himself "Wu Ming," or "Nameless." Nerdgirl, you just h...

He predicted the future! The Board *does* have voice recordings now but Braille remains unavailable. I've just been clicking "I'm Board" for a couple days now and thought this was a golden find.

Re: mb title bar nominations
When I first chose the name (as a sophomore in high school), I really did not think it sounded masculine or feminine, just cute. I now realize it has a masculine sound, but honestly that is okay with me, as I'm not the most feminine person anyway. Just a note, "Mico" was originally a Latin...

I just found an article today about women changing their names for marriage. But not just last names! It's interesting.

Marduk, where are you from? Rather, what type of society did you grow up in? I'm curious now!

Um, CJ, I think the word you are looking for is "romantic." Other cultures kiss as a sign of affection - lots of different types of affection! - but most people in the U.S. only kiss in romantic relationships. It's just different.
