I think $15 is way too low. $25 minimum, and more if any specialized vocabulary is required.

Are tattoos against the honor code? No, they're not. I'm fairly certain that getting a visible tattoo as a student would lead to honor code problems. The honor code statement notes that it is based on the standards of For the Strength of Youth : Members of the BYU community commit themselves to obs...

Re: Career Advice
It's been more than a year since I asked this question, and just in case anyone cares, I thought I would let everyone known how things turned out. Or at least how things have turned out so far. Basically, I have no regrets at all about my decision to quit grad school and take this job. Really, I sho...

Are tattoos against the honor code? I just glanced at the the page for the honor code, and while I saw some very specific rules regarding things like hair length and body piercings, I did not see any mention of tattoos. Unless I see specific documentation showing otherwise, as far as I am concerned,...

I recently decided to start reading again. I have been pretty absorbed in my job. Even when I'm not officially working, I'm usually still thinking about work. So I thought that reading would be a good way to get my mind off work from time to time. I bought a kindle and started downloading books that...

Star Wars quotes
I just had to point out that Yellow made a very common mistake, and misquoted the most famous line from the Star Wars saga.
The correct quote:
No. I am your father.

Re: 63688: Talking to family
I think I call home about once a month these days. But I'll chat with my parents regularly online. I definitely thought the writers answers seemed unusual. I don't feel like most people I knew talked to their parents that often.

Oh, and thanks Digit for introducing me to Project Euler. I don't think it helped me in finding a job, but it definitely made me stay up, literally, all night last week.

Re: Career Advice
So, after a few weeks of stress and anxiety, I am pleased to report back that I have accepted a job offer and start next week. I will be working at a pretty exciting startup, and I will be making quite a bit more money than I expected I would. I will also be getting stock options, which will potenti...

When I use Firefox in Ubuntu, any time I navigate to a page that has a facebook "Like" button, a window pops up, informing me that I have chosen to open a PHP script and asks whether to open it or save it. The file is always an empty file. Any idea how to get it to stop trying to open the ...

I think we (Momons) pray too much. Do we really need to say a prayer before playing basketball, or serving refreshments, etc?

Dang. I was actually thinking of that during the interview, but for some reason I though it wouldn't work, so I moved on. It's hard to think clearly on the spot.

I thought about that one as well. The problem is that there could be multiple duplicates. So, if it comes out to zero, then we know there is a duplicate; however, if it does come out to zero, the test is inconclusive. And thanks for wishing me luck. But with regards to this question, it's not necess...

Re: Career Advice
Yeah that is a solution that I gave to the original question, but the sort will use either O(N log N) time or O(N) memory (if we use a bucket sort or something like that).

Re: Career Advice
It went pretty well. The question were not too difficult. They gave me some scenarios and asked what sort of data structure I would use and how I would implement it. They also asked a couple of logic questions that weren't too difficult. They emailed me a homework assignment this morning. A couple o...
