Re: What Are Some Things Most Mormons Like That You Dislike?

I'm usually ready to call it a day by the time the first sacrament meeting speaker makes the same lame joke about getting tricked in to speaking by a sneaky second counselor in the bishopric. YES. AMEN. Can I add to that any time the speaker begins their talk saying anything about how much they hat...

Re: Potential Members

As someone who hasn’t served her mission yet (but is reporting…WEDNESDAY!!...though I don’t want this thread to get sidetracked from the get-go…) I can’t really speak to the “common experience” side of this question, but I do have some thoughts on why these opinions might be shared by members of the...

Re: Girl who isn't thrilled to be pregnant

haha, and here I thought I was totally in the clear with DL's comment...but... Yeah. I was totally wrong. I was curious enough to do some cyber-stalking, and now I am 95% certain you are a girl. ...I guess I should be a little more careful with whatever cookie-crumbs I'm leaving around the I...

Re: Girl who isn't thrilled to be pregnant

Like Wisteria, I also really like the idea krebscout presents of motherhood being an investment. I also loved her comment on motherhood being more intellectually stimulating as kids get older and as their personalities change and as your relationship with them changes. It makes me think about my rel...

Re: Kissing scenes ~ #62051

As for my gender... can't you tell? ;) Is "evil" a gender now? It is if that means I get my own cool, Imperial March-esque theme song that plays whenever I enter a room (or...thread...as it were...). Muahaha! haha, it's really not some big conspiracy against you guys...but since my ...

Re: Kissing scenes ~ #62051

I've never even heard of the movie, but watching that kiss made me want to see it. Partly because it was an awesome kiss, partly because it made me look up cute fan-made music videos with other clips of the movie (another weakness!), and partly because––WHO is that blonde chick in the mirror just w...

Re: Kissing scenes ~ #62051

I like the SyFy Alice/Hatter one better, and I've never even seen that show. I've seen it myself, and I highly recommend it. There are a few, very small moments where the plot is stretched a little too thin, but the acting is spot-on! What I love the most about it is how realistically Alice's react...

Re: Girl who isn't thrilled to be pregnant

This is so interesting to me. (I hope this doesn't sound insensitive.) This is one of those instances which I can see logically what all of you feel, but it's totally foreign to me to feel that way. I still think you're all good people, for the record. I'm with wired on this one; couldn't have said...

Re: Juvenile Literature

I realize he's a boy and might reel at the title but Princess Academy by Shannon Hale is a fabulous book about the value of education and self-identity. My mom is an elementary school librarian and when she met Shannon Hale at a conference, the author recommended telling boys it's about boys throwin...

I don’t often read the forums, and I’ve never posted, so maybe that’s going to negate some of my credibility BUT… I think Dragon Lady has a point when she calls for this thread to be closed. I’m not saying that because I’m personally postfeminist and I want to “ignore” the discussion(/shouting match...
