Re: Board applications

I remember actually finding the right application question 3 or 4 times and thinking it had nothing of value in it. I usually gave up after 10 minutes of searching the archives, so maybe I wouldn't have made such a good researcher. I finally did find the answer when some clues were given about the d...

Re: Pranks

I'm a fan of the ringing the doorbell and running prank. I love seeing the looks on their faces when they notice the plate of brownies we left them.

Re: Is viewing pornography not as bad as being an alcoholic?

I guess I've just always had a different definition of addiction because I haven't seen the serious addictions everyone here is referring to. If someone is constantly checking facebook or reddit all day long while ignoring their family and at the risk of losing their job, is this not an addiction? B...

Re: Sunday Rules

I feel like my mom wanted to be strict, but could never enforce any rules. Shopping was a definite no no, but everything else seemed to be OK even if discouraged. My wife and I both have fond memories of watching the Simpsons with our dads on Sunday.

Re: Bras and Society

I don't think there's anything truly wrong about not wearing one in public, but it's like not wearing underwear and putting a sign on your pants declaring your lack of underwear to the world. Actually that might be a bit extreme, maybe it's more like wearing pajamas.

Re: Work hours

Personally, if I didn't think I needed the money I'd stick with it, depending on how fulfilling my other job was. You're potentially saving children's lives, and there's something about being physically tired that leaves me with a sense of accomplishment. Some days I wish I could get away from my de...

Re: Answers I liked

http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/73164/ I like how LJ got Editor's Choice for this one. I was also pretty excited to see a question that I asked was the longest EC. I mean sure, Zed wrote it, but I asked it. http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/73072/ I also enjoyed reading the article "Is Beauty...

Re: Braid

http://www.greenheartgames.com/ I'm sure those of you who are interested heard about how the developers of Game Dev Tycoon trolled pirates. In any case, I bought the game today, and LOVE it. It's the first time since I got home from my mission that I found myself looking at the clock three hours la...

Re: Wheel of Time Book Order

I'd read it in publication order, which would put it after #8. I think I just randomly saw it at the library after finishing #9 and I really enjoyed reading it then. I don't remember too much about it, but it seems like it would spoil some things to read it after #2.

Re: The Princess Brides, Lies, and Other Fun Things

I didn't realize it wasn't true until I read it on the 100 hour board. I think you should keep it a secret as long as possible as it seems more fun that way. If you want to discuss it, you can always reveal the secret after you finish.

Re: First Daddy Daughter Video Games

We're having fun for a few minutes at a time before she gets bored, which is fine, but I think she'd have more fun if she could figure out the d-pad or joystick. I've tried explaining it to her, but I don't think I did a very good job. Any tips for how to help her make the connection?

Re: 2-5 Things that Make You Smile

My daughter - even when she's insane and throwing a tantrum, it makes me smile; I hope I can control my smile better during her teenage years, or else she's going to be very mad at me. This. Tantrums make me laugh except when people are giving me the stink eye because I let my daughter cry in publi...

Re: teens v. babies

If I had a teenager I'd let you borrow her if you promised to teach her calculus. Or even if you didn't because you seem like the kind of person who would do well with teenagers.

Re: First Daddy Daughter Video Games

Any game is fine as long as you realize that her attention span might not be very long for it. My daughter and I have enjoyed playing pokepark wii, but we only play for 5-10 minutes before she wants to do something else, although sometimes she enjoys watching me play for longer. She also enjoys Mar...

Re: First Daddy Daughter Video Games

Well I'm not opposed to buying Wii/GC games. I have always wanted to try SMG and Kirby's Epic Yarn, so maybe this can be my excuse. Thanks for the quick suggestions!

First Daddy Daughter Video Games

I'm getting a Wii for the virtual console and was just wondering if my 3-year-old daughter was old enough to play any of the games on it with me. Do any of you have any suggestions for which games I should try first? I'm not looking for games like Princess Barbie's Pony Teaches ABCs, because I would...

This game got me back into video games, so I haven't checked back here in a while. I just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to such an innovative and fun game. It was well worth the tiny amount of money I had to spend.

Re: Flossing

I have such terrible teeth that even with flossing and brushing I've had a root canal at three crowns. So I feel your pain! I can't imagine what your teeth would be like if you weren't a regular flosser/brusher. You might have some seriously bad genes or microbes. I'm jealous. I've never been able ...

Re: The life of a farm animal #71854

I guess I always just assumed that other farms were like those around me. I thought that there were regulations preventing the inhumane practices I had heard of, although I haven't done much research beyond my own town.

The life of a farm animal #71854

http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/71854/ I grew up on a decent sized chicken farm, with a cow farm next door, so I know a little bit about farm life. I've heard some crazy things about what supposedly goes on in farms like these, and how these animals hate their lives. The one that really irked me t...
