Y'know, there really isn't any scriptural foundation for avoiding profanity. The closest I can think of is Matthew 5:37 's instructions about avoiding swearing by heaven or God's throne. I'm not arguing that profanity is virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy. But it's more of a modern ...

Out of curiosity, what, exactly, am I supposed to do once I've found fault in someone? Gossip? Whine? Pout? Tattle on him to the Stake President? My personal opinion on this subject depends on the particular fault. In the example above of the "creative tithe payer," it would depend on my ...

I've never been able to figure out those types of decisions. This one especially doesn't make much sense. If you talk to anyone at Newsnet they sound very confident about their "freedom of the press," but the reality is somewhat different. I don't mean that as criticism; I just think it's ...

This site has some suggestions. I just did a Google search for "diablo 2 vista" and got a lot of results. If connecting to battle.net is your problem, my experience and the web results suggest that it may be a firewall issue. I actually have to disable my firewall to play Warcraft III in ...

I guess I just figure, do I want net blessings or gross blessings? Do you think it really works that way? To actually answer Katya's question, I think the answer may be yes. To the extent that you do your best to comply with God's law, you are blessed. The statement above assumes that net tithing i...

Ditto on the Starcraft II. However, the gameplay video for Diablo III looked good. Better story aspects, apparently. Very bloody, but I believe the Diablo games let you scale down the gore.

A secondary Gmail account is a good option. Just set it to forward to your other account, or set up a filter. I confess, I have 6 Gmail accounts for the various facets of my life. (A person one, two for blogging, a pro bono one, a community organization one, and a 100 Hour Board one.

Katya wrote:Now it looks like I was making fun of Yarjka, which I wasn't.
Sorry, Katya; I didn't intend that statement to imply that you were. I just liked the idea of a modern Law of Moses. (I would totally be a Pharisee.) I thought Yarjka had a good point as well.

There should be specifically proscribed methods for observing the Sabbath, obeying the Word of Wisdom, paying tithing, dressing modestly, etc. And then we would add a hedge around the law, to make sure we never broke them. That worked great with the Law of Moses.

This variety of approaches seems to validate the Church's refusal to come down on one definitive rule for paying tithing. There would have to be little adjustments or exceptions, and no one wants to have to hire an accountant just to pay tithing.

Unpleasantly condescending? You do realize that if unpleasant condescension is equal to hilarity, or sounding like a power puff girl , you fail right? Ar at least at the unpleasant bit. (emphasis added) From now on, SWKT's new name is Blossom. http://star-ecentral.com/archives/2006/5/23/soundnstage...

#45611 Cleaning out snail shells

I thought The Cheeky Chickie's response to the snail question was faulty. The Lysol suggestion is both impractical and inadvisable. Snail shell spirals make it virtually impossible to spray any cleaning solution into the shells, and the chemicals can damage the shell material. Alcohol might work oka...

Has anyone ever had the frozen Hot Chocolate from Serendipity 3 in New York? It's really very excellent. I think Starbucks should totally co-opt the idea. I might even go there once in a while if they did.
