I have used Skype primarily for international calls, which would otherwise be very pricey. I also used it for a while when I didn't have a phone for a few months.

I have always used a word processor (in my case, OpenOffice) to create my resumes. However, I've considered using a spreadsheet before, since it would help with some of the columns and formatting difficulties I often face when I use a word processor. If you create your resume in another program, mak...

A mircle indeed.Giovanni Schwartz wrote:Oops... Typo. I'm really bad about those. It's a mircle that I didn't have one before that. (It wasn't even intentional.)
I suggest using Firefox. Built-in spell check is a beautiful thing.

Women are not, in fact a minority. "149.1 million is The number of females in the United States as of July 1, 2004. That exceeds the number of males (144.5 million)." --U.S. Census Press Release Back to the beginning topic: the definition of "minority" doesn't always correspond ...

I recently heard about some promising test runs with vehicles using hydraulic engines. They just require a small diesel engine to pressurize the hydraulic line from time to time, so they get two or three times the gas mileage of a normal vehicle. They also are almost as cheap to make as normal cars,...

Tennessee is sinking hundreds of millions of dollars into switchgrass, which apparently has some potential as a biofuel . It's a native plant in most of North America, it's easy to maintain, it doesn't need to be planted each year, it thrives in poor soil conditions, and it doesn't need much water o...

The high price of food
I was considering asking a question about why the price of food has risen so much lately, but I just heard some of the answers in an NPR article. The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations just released a report on the subject, and while its predictions are a little pessimistic, th...

i don't really know what marriage is for, honestly. some would say it's for procreating, but then people who are infertile or don't want kids shouldn't get married. i think marriage is for companionship. it's to make a solid commitment to someone you love. I would submit that determining the purpos...

There is also meebo which allows a user to sign into multiple types of messenger, but it is pretty basic though. But clearly pidgin is superior. I also like meebo , although since it's a web application, it's not as handy because you need to have a browser page open to use it. But I use meebo a lot...

Speaking of MSN, is your messenger working yet? ;) Nope. I wonder what the heck my brother did to it. Here's a vote for not using MSN Messenger. Try one of the multiple-client messengers; they don't have ads and they have tons of better features. I like Pidgin , but Digsby is sweet because it also ...

but we can make our family (to an extent). we CHOOSE who we marry, we choose who we're friends with (and i believe friends ARE family). the definition of family in one's life is always changing. so why do you get to decide what family means? it means something different to everyone. and i don't thi...
