Re: Course Load

Take all this with a grain of salt. And adjust based on how summer goes. If you're not working, it should be very manageable. If you are, it could still be doable. My second and third semesters at BYU I did 16 hours with a language and worked on campus. Of course, it was an office job that sometimes...

Re: Buying a car

If you drive with the title and bill of sale, you should be fine if you get pulled over. Just tell them you're driving to the DMV to get the license plates. I drove from Pleasant Grove, to my parents' house, to the Provo DMV, and I was never pulled over.

That's still scholarship matrix material. I'd suspect endorsement issue or a terrible seminary recommendation. Or a highly weighted GPA? BYU doesn't weight GPAs so that could be something.

How did you schedule the call? Can you contact them that way right now and ask to reschedule based on miscommunication of timezone expectations?

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

Unsolicited comments on course load: 9 credits during summer is a lot. You can probably handle it academically, but make sure you have time for a social life and any job you might want. Summer on campus is one of my favorite things because people are always doing something. It can make it hard to do...

I'm still good for never having school canceled, despite the ice, even while in Texas. I'm really going to see if I can make it through 18 years of education without it. So far, so good.

There's a guest WiFi, but it was kind of terrible the last time I was there. The BYUSecure only requires a NetID and it's easy to sign up for one.

Farepay was far cheaper for me because I would have needed a premium pass. Add in the fact that I wouldn't have spent as much on FrontRunner fare as a pass cost (this was even before Farepay was introduced), and Farepay was a beautiful idea. I'll definitely say implementation is flawed. There should...

Whistler, there are stretches where it's 4 each way (which seems like so little compared to the rest of Utah County) Here's the thing: the development's already happening. Lehi today is not the Lehi of even ten years ago. I think we're getting close to max freeway lanes, if we're not already there. ...

Maybe it was just this question, but this made me feel happy and full of dread at the same time. It's a much needed expansion—there is always congestion there, and it's the worst part of the Provo to Salt Lake commute—but the construction period will be terrible. The last I-15 project started before...

I just investigated my current school's international student requirements, and while they require the bank statement, the deposit is not a thing for them. There's a $100 fee for being an international student, but no deposit.

The deposit policy was what I was referencing.

Re: Requirements for Monson Scholars

When BYU made that a requirement for international students back in 2008/2009, that was one thing my former piano teacher (who was a Canadian international student) was very upset about. She had an excellent scholarship from BYU (Heritage), but wouldn't have been able to meet the bank account requir...

Do you know any tumblr bloggers who fit in the groups of people you've designed cards for? Can you reach out to them and have them post it? They frequently have followers who deal with the same issues, and tumblr's clickthrough donation rate is one of the best for social media sites.

I think the headphones I purchased on Amazon were technically a Black Friday deal, but it was the lowest cost I'd seen them (and I've had them in my wishlist for 3 years). Although camelcamelcamel says they dropped another few dollars on Sunday, I got them in time for my flight back to Texas and I a...

Re: #79841 - Not Going Home for the Holidays

Honestly, I wouldn't be going home for Thanksgiving if my little brother weren't leaving that very week for his mission. I say, if you don't want to go home for a holiday, don't go home for Thanksgiving. Christmas is soon enough and there's less travel crunch.
