I'm most bothered when people refer to a whole group of grown women as girls. That's infantilizing and rude.
I tend to refer to anyone ~high school age or older as men and women. You know, treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and all that.

59330: How to dance
I just wanted to point out that the Patrick in this question: http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/59330/ is the Patrick in this article: http://news.byu.edu/archive10-apr-phd.aspx That's awesome. By the way, I knew him in real life and recognized him from the video. My stalking skills probably would n...

Re: Which is worse?
Milk thieves are easy to thwart--just put a couple drops of food coloring in your milk and take the label off. It makes your milk look super sketchy. Shampoo thieves are the worst. Like Gimsy said, it's hard to prove (even to yourself) that they're doing it. But I've also found that draping a washcl...

Re: Healthiest starch
I'm a nutrition major, and often, when people hear that, the first thing they ask me is, "So, what do you think about __(food)__? Is it healthy?" I always end up giving kind of a wishy-washy answer about how most foods in moderation can help provide some of the variety of nutrients that's ...

Maybe your lumpy dog just has benign lipomas? My family's old yellow lab grew a ton of them on his stomach in the couple of years before he died (from unrelated causes). It was like petting a furry bag of balled-up socks.

Re: When is the best time for ice cream?
I think right after getting it home from the grocery store. Because then you're all hungry from looking at food, and the ice cream is nice and soft from being in the car.

I like how Santa is moping in the front row with jeans and no tie. "...Christmas was supposed to be MY special day!"

Re: #59062 - Stereotypical Mormon weddings
I know this is sort of off-topic, but since it's been mentioned a couple times, I also think that the comments are maybe going a little overboard. It sure seems like most of them are just some random person's opinion or anecdote about something, instead of actually providing new information to answe...

Re: Rocky Road
Oh yeah, this reminds me: when I was a kid, I used to ignore the ice cream and just go mining for those ribbons of marshmallow cream or peanut butter or whatever. I got pretty good at extracting lots of the good stuff without disturbing the surrounding ice cream. It's basically an art form.

Re: BYU football going independent
From what I understand, if BYU goes independent, we will probably still end up playing most of the MWC during the season (just like how Notre Dame is technically independent, but still plays most of the Big 10 each season), but we won't be obligated to play the sucky teams in our conference that wea...

Re: Rules on tipping
Here's a question: when waiters look at the amount of the tip, do they take it as constructive criticism (wow, I disappointed this lady. probably because she had to ask me to refill her drink twice. I will improve!) or do they just take it as a marker of how cheap a person is? My brother the ex-wait...

Re: Attention fellow piemakers
I've never used a natural hair brush, but I have used both nylon fiber and silicone brushes. I wouldn't say I prefer one over the other, but the silicone ones are definitely a lot easier to clean, and I think a lot of them are dishwasher-safe, which is sweet. You can get them for like five bucks, so...

Attention fellow piemakers
Did you know that instead of brushing butter on your pie crusts to brown them, you can just spray Pam or canola oil on instead? It is so much easier than melting butter and brushing it on, and I did not notice any differences in browning or flavor. Save yourselves the hassle of cleaning congealed bu...

Anyone else waiting to buy an all-sports pass? It's been open for twenty minutes but I haven't been able to get in because of heavy server load. In related news, I still haven't decided which group of near and dear friends I'm going to buy my ticket with...it's either the other marching band dropout...

I liked the serif font too. I wouldn't mind the option to switch back to that.
That's pretty much the only thing I haven't liked about 5.0.

I was so obsessed with the books in eighth grade. I still remembered enough to get 30/50, though, not bad.
