Re: Bras and Society
I didn't ask a question ... and I knew that you'd said that not being noticeable was fine. My point is that even for girls like me, it can occasionally and accidentally become noticeable, making a lot of your argument very, very applicable to me. Including this part: "If a man suddenly notices ...

Re: Bras and Society
I think part of the disagreement, Vorpal, is that you might be thinking of the bralessness paparazzi love to capture, often very blatant and probably intentionally provocative. That's not really the case for a lot of women. According to Wikipedia, "in western cultures about 10–25% of women do n...

Re: Bras and Society
Whistler, there is another, very important, reason that very small-chested women wear bras sometimes, myself included. I can wear boys' size 12 clothes without adjustment, I am in a male-dominated major, I sing bass, and in the past year at least four people have assumed I was 12 or under, so it's d...

Re: Food Stamps
From my last shopping trip: oranges, bananas, apples, peaches all for $5.75. That was 24 servings of fruit right there. Bell peppers, broccoli, and jalapeno brought it up to $7.11. That makes it over the 30 servings mark, at least. I still have a large head of romaine in the fridge and lots of dried...

Re: Food Stamps
I average about $20/week right now, and I eat at least 5 servings of produce a day. Part of that is that I'm a vegetarian, which helps cut costs considerably. Most of my protein comes from whole grains paired with vegetables, with some eggs thrown in for good measure. I bake my own bread as well as ...

Re: Bras and Society
Vorpal, given that my breasts seriously could be on a muscular or heavy guy, yeah, I really don't get it. If the one sight is extremely stimulating, why isn't the other (for guys or girls)? In fact, a guy who's that muscular just might be extremely attractive to a lot of women. But he wouldn't need ...

Re: Bras and Society
As a girl who has tried on 30A bras that were too big in the cups, I've always found our society's insistence on bras to be ridiculous. Whenever I go to the pool, I see men with a lot more breast tissue than I have, and some of them aren't even the heavily overweight men; they're the really muscular...

Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
I asked the question, so 45. I'm an introverted math major, and that explains a lot of my answers. I don't know that I'd actually qualify as having Asperger's, although I've sometimes wondered.

I don't think I've ever tried Dillard's, so I'll have to check it out.

Re: Buying Bras
In the girls' section of most department stores, the selection is usually 30A through 36A, maybe with 32AA for good measure. Sometimes I think I might as well just go on wearing too big bras. At least they make me look a bit more adult.

Re: Buying Bras
Does anyone know of a store in or around Provo where I could try on 28A or 28B bras? One of my biggest problems is that even when stores carry anything that small, they are pretty much useless for modesty purposes. (A cami with a shelf bra is actually more effective.) Even if I do end up ordering fr...

Relationships with Depressed People
This question got me thinking. When I'm really depressed, I push everyone who would normally be close to me, like family and friends, away. I turn to teachers and other people who are more distanced from me instead, and I think that I do it so that the people I care most about won't have to deal wi...

Re: Mission Papers
I was informed today that I may reapply for a mission in two years. It took Salt Lake ten weeks to decide that.

Re: Mission Papers
Update: 5 weeks since the psychological evaluation results went to the Mission Department, 7 weeks since my papers were submitted to Salt Lake, 8 weeks since the stake got them, 9 weeks since they were ready for the bishop to submit, and my availability date is now only about 8 weeks away. My bishop...

I would love to have something more definite to go off of, so if you would, Craig, I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Mission Papers
Squirrel, since my mission papers may not end up in front of an apostle at all, that's kind of a moot point in my case (not that the decision won't be the Lord's will, but this particular decision is made by doctors and psychologists). I'm starting to wonder if I was prompted to turn in my papers so...

Mission Papers
When President Monson made the missionary age change announcement, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I should do, and I felt strongly that serving a mission now would be a good thing for me. But I have dealt with depression ever since I was about 12, and I have what the doctors labelle...
