Things babies don't need
http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/76288/ I love this list - great advice. Of course, some people really like setting up the baby room and buying all of these special things, and that's fine too. The big one for us was no crib. We bought a small ikea mattress and put it on the floor. Here 's a good ...

Re: Sochi Prices
Speaking of different ways of taking care of business in different cultures around the world, don't they still use their good ol' left hand to do the job in Saudi Arabia and other countries on the Arabian Peninsula? I use my right hand to wipe, but I hold with my left when I pee. This ruined Gattac...

Re: Sochi Prices
So the yellow water from #13 is not only not safe enough to drink, they are being told it's too polluted to bathe in. I hope that's not a norm for most Russians. Plenty of buildings turn the water off completely for most of the day. But yes, they should fix the problem, water contamination is no jo...

sneckdown - An area of the street where cars don't drive, which is made apparent when the streets are covered with snow. (The etymology is "snow" + "neckdown," where "neckdown" is another name for a curb extension. Sneckdowns are useful in urban planning, because they ...

Re: Sochi Prices
Why can't their toilets handle TP, I wonder? Poor plumbing, I'd suspect, don't want to deal with clogged pipes. Water pressure is haphazard at best. I saw toilet paper trash in every bathroom in Ecuador when I visited there, and it's not uncommon in other areas of Latin America. I've been told it's...

That's all pretty standard for Russia. Don't know why people would expect anything different.Digit wrote:Also, looks like many hotels have yellow water, tiny, bare rooms, and toilets you can't flush the toilet paper down (please do not flush toilet paper down the toilet; put it in the bin provided)

Re: Deciding Where to Settle Down
Do foreigners get the same medical benefits as citizens in Canada? If I were just a tourist , no, but if I were a permanent resident working in Canada, or married to a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, I could likely apply to be covered. I'm in Canada on a student visa. We pay a nominal fee f...

Apparently the Joseph Smith Translation changed "holy kiss" to "holy salutation" (source). Just something to think about.

I'm not convinced they're originally Hebrew? Because... they're not in the Old Testament. :) Ex. 28:30; Lev. 8:8; Num. 27:21; Deut. 33:8; 1 Sam. 28:6; Ezra 2:63; Neh. 7:65 But Wikipedia says ""Thummim" is pronounced /tumim/ in Modern Hebrew", so I guess these things don't matter...

Question about Kristoff. I assumed at the beginning that he was out cutting ice with his dad. But then later it indicates that he has no family and was all alone. I just assume he got sidetracked when he first saw the trolls and went back home when he was done. What am I missing? He's an orphan. Th...

I love Frozen . I've seen it many times now. I agree with all the positive reviews posted. Some wonderful stuff here, Disney did a great job. As for the trolls, they've begun to grow on me. I didn't like them at all upon my first viewing, but I have since found some very good points of resonance in ...

I apologize if this is making light of the situation, but I imagine I will not be able to eat a banana in the future without cradling it in my arms like a baby. How I never thought to do this before is rather perplexing to me.nymofanym wrote:They smelled like very ripe bananas, which I can no longer eat.
