Re: So...the Big Bang, huh?
So the printed versions are now online, and it seems a lot gentler in text. It also seems to tangentially support evolution, even though I think the "new editions" comment was meant to allude to reproduction and not evolution. But who even knows.

Re: So...the Big Bang, huh?
I'm with Craig--but from Elder Scott, it seemed completely normal. There are a few others among the brethren who could have said that and I wouldn't have raised an eyebrow, but not many. If there's anyone who hasn't noticed that he has been particularly mournful and communicative with his late wife ...

Re: #66554 - Sisters and missions
Oh—I realize it's not nearly as cut-and-dry as most circumstances that we'd pull the commission/omission thing. Frankly, I generally tire of people throwing those terms around unnecessarily. However, I don't think that someone who feels impressed to serve who chooses not to needs to fast and pray fo...

Re: #66554 - Sisters and missions
I think the point that's trying to be made is that a sister not serving a mission will never be a sin of commission. I don't think that God's encouragement for a sister to serve could ever be, in normal circumstances, considered a "commandment." I think Unit's anecdote about her mom has re...

There's been a fair number of papers written about how the Laban story fits with the Law of Retribution as defined in D&C 98. I think it's 98, anyway.
That might be what Fred is referring to.

Student Life already passed on us, unfortunately. We thought it was a good fit, too. They thought we were a bunch of dunderheads with snot for brains.

"How can we be sure that Gimgomnimo never says 'butthead' ever again? I'll tell you: we can't be. Good luck finding a new place, losers."
That's been the general reception so far.
(This is entirely false.)

Here it is, for you RSS feed readers around here: Dear readers, Some of you are aware that the Board has had many homes over the past 15 years. Throughout our existence, we've been displaced every few years as policies change and departments realign around campus. Up until now, we've been successful...

See, if I had a hypothetical reception, it would be the opposite. There would be free meat everywhere.

Oh gosh. I need Oxford commas sometimes. I help proofread answers, and it drives me crazy at times when writers opt out of using Oxford commas when I think they would be helpful.
I think I would cry a little bit every time that someone removed my Oxfords. I loves thems.

I would choose to eat vegetarian around her, too. Her policy has always been "I will eat you if you eat an animal around me."
I hope all of your dinner guests know that the meat-based option is a trap.

I talked to him this afternoon. My understanding is that they gave him a few real questions from the inbox as part of his application because a bunch of stuff cropped up the week that his writer application was out. Rather than extend his deadline on the application, they just gave him a few real qu...

Alright, this is my first time back here in a few months, and even though I would really rather not participate at all in this discussion, let me just give a few cents worth of context behind my answer. First off, this question went grossly overhours. I'd intended to write something up for about a m...

Whistler is in my Japanese class this semester. I talked to her after class, but she didn't want to talk to me because I'd accidentally said that "nanigo" meant "what time" instead of "what language" during class. Embarrassing.

Probably a squeaky belt. If it squeaks mostly when you first start your car, I would guess it's your alternator belt.

Ding Dong Merrily on High.
(the next person has to include the whole phrase "dong merrily on high" for the next piece, and not just "high")

I really wanted to submit a post that just had a random cuss word in it with no alternate "appropriate" meaning, but...it just didn't seem right.
But I really wanted to. Self-control won out.

Duckie, you're like a slightly exaggerated me on the color test.
...thank goodness you're not a slightly exaggerated me in real life, or you would have absolutely no friends.
