Re: makeup poll - women
I wasn't sure which category I fell into: I used to wear none, but now that my hair is light blond I wear mascara almost every day. So I picked the second. Lipgloss never. Blech.

Re: Getting out of giving out your number
Like give a fake number?
Would that make both him and the person whose number it really is feel like they were played by a big jerk?

Getting out of giving out your number
So, in the same spirit as my "getting out of a hug" question... How do you tactfully refuse to give out your telephone number? When it's asked for in a nice way, like, "Do you go to that park often? Want to get our kids together to play some time? What's your number?" The guy may...

There have been a couple of answers disparaging huge "buggy" sunglasses in the past little while...I just wanted to say they're more effective for keeping the sun out than small ones. That's all.

Last night I dreamed that I invented some device like an EMP, but rather than ruining all electronics within range, it made all the stickers around me unsticky.

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to
I looked at this book on Amazon since you mentioned it--is it about how suburbs are inefficient and made by the government? What I've read so far has little to do with the government, or even efficiency. So far it's been about how developers and marketers have shaped the public views on domestic li...

Re: let's talk about sex
Ha. Whistler, I love you. My sister in law got married last weekend, and I ended up giving her "the talk" a few weeks prior. Her mother admitted she wouldn't be saying much. We talked for about two hours. We were very thorough and used correct terms. But I think the single best piece of ad...

Re: Tactfulness and job interviews and legal grey areas
About the ages of your kids, I would probably say something about them being old enough that they won't get in the way of your responsibilities as a manger. (assuming that's true) Then the interviewer is either stuck clarifying what it is about kids' ages that they're worried about, or they have to...

Re: Tactfulness and job interviews and legal grey areas
To be fair, whether or not you have kids and how old they are are not protected categories - meaning that they can choose not to hire you based on those facts without breaking any laws whatsoever. Also, depending on your state, it may very well be legal for them to deny people apartments based on t...

Tactfulness and job interviews and legal grey areas
Sauron and I have been interviewing for Apartment Management positions lately. We've been asked "How old are your kids?" more than once. This is a seemingly innocent question, but it's also not legal, and we have in fact been "discriminated" against for having young children. Bec...

I'm a trend follower. I got some funky symptoms after having my last baby. I went to a doctor and they weren't helpful at all. After researching it myself I found that gluten could be a culprit (I think the symptoms were always there, I just didn't notice them until after I gave birth — and my secon...

My middle name is also Anne after Anne of Green Gables....weird.
My mom's is Ann, so it's kind of after her, too.
And I've never read Anne of Green Gables.
