Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I think in my bookbinding class we just used elmer's glue mixed with some water and applied with a paintbrush.

Re: #87440 - Collective nouns
oh, Japanese has special counting words for just about everything it seems like--they go after the number depending on the thing you're counting, and the first few are often irregular. It's a real pain in the butt. Counters for cylindrical objects, pieces of paper, people, etc. I guess it's like hea...

I think I knew about "sperm" and "egg", but it was all very abstract to me until the sex education video we watched at school in 6th grade.

I agree that getting a PhD is often overrated. But it also sounds like the question-asker wants to do it and have an adventure.

Re: Rant of the Day
I say the same thing multiple times. I give examples. I even ask the specific students I'm worried about if they understand how to do it, and if they are going to do it in their paper. They demonstrate to me that they can do it. And then they make the same stupid mistake in their paper. I wish I co...

Re: Causing Trouble at Church
to me, it's not so much institutional support (because there are other members out there who agree that some of our LDS traditions are false)--it's more a way to bond with other members. But I'm in primary now, so I don't get as many opportunities to make trouble, which is less stressful overall for...

Re: Banned Books?
my opinion is like mic0's; I read a ton when I was a kid and there was no way my parents could have screened all my reading. I think it's good to guide children to books that are appropriate for them, but I also think books are a good way to get to know more adult topics. My opinion will probably ch...

Re: Most/least polite dating turn-down
When I was dating, if I asked a guy out and he was busy or didn't respond, I figured it was time for him to pick things up from there. Most guys who weren't interested in me simply ignored me?

What is a spinny ring? It sounds fun.Genuine Article wrote:I wish I had just skipped ahead to getting a wedding band. As it is I don't wear my ring because it turns out I'm just not a jewelry person (too fidgety). I've considered getting a spinny ring as my wedding band though.

Re: Engagement Rings
I think it's fun a socially useful to wear a ring, and also I think that it shouldn't have to be expensive. I understand if certain people don't want to wear a ring though (in some professions it's a hazard).
Re: Obamacare
It sucks for young people on group plans who have to subsidize the healthcare of menopausal women and heart attack-y men. So, I'm with you that this situation sucks for your employer, but isn't the point of insurance that healthy people contribute to the exorbitant healthcare costs of the unhealthy...
