Re: Flat tax
But seriously, are there people around (here) who support a flat tax? My knowingly incomplete tax-logic considered it a good idea until I read CPM's answer. Then I decided that I really just don't know what to do with taxes except make them simpler! Please? Exactly. I think the idea of a flat tax a...

Re: Ahhhh Ron Paul Ahhhhhh
TBC, no business operates on that thin of margins. I don't really agree with that...I guess it depends on the competitiveness of the industry. The more competitive the industry, the thinner your margins will be. I'm thinking in terms of fierce competition. And you guys both brought up racist niche ...

Re: Ahhhh Ron Paul Ahhhhhh
(in other words, do they really think a racist will stop being a racist just because there's not as much profit in it?) Depends how badly the racist needs the money. And if that racist owns a business, and his business has to compete against more progressive businesses who adopt non-racist policies...

Re: #63196 - Movies you haven't seen
"Let's shock everyone by naming movies bob hasn't seen" is one of Marduk's favorite games. So we know there's a whole list of movies that I haven't seen and, as a result, have cheated myself out of a proper childhood and continue to deprive myself as an adult. Heh heh, that sounds just li...

Re: Belated apologies
I think we all have some of these little incidents. They sort of haunt you, in a way. I said some ignorant/rude things to a girl back in high school...like 8 years ago. I still think about it from time to time, and I often wonder what's going on with her. We're friends on Facebook, so I could try to...

Leftover night! When I was a kid, I HATED LEFTOVER NIGHT WITH A BLOODY PASSION! But now that I'm the one cooking, it's just so nice to have a night off. Leftover night is now a godsend. Funny how that perspective changes...

Re: BYU pauper babies
a lot of the difference between social classes comes down to mindset and skills and not income. Totally agree with this. Something that completely baffled me after high school was watching so many of my smart and capable friends go back to the ghetto where they came from. They had every chance in t...

Re: Career Advice
Hmm...I'm not a programmer myself, but I work with lots of programmers, so maybe I can help just a tad. Most employers probably won't care about your degree. They just care about your skills. Learn the basics and get yourself an internship, do some freelance work, or find a willing employer. Also, s...

Re: What's for dinner?
Now that I think about it... One of the challenges of American cooking is the fact that we often try to cook such an enormous variety of foods. If you're regularly trying to cook Italian, Mexican, and Chinese...which I think is pretty typical of most American households, you're going to need an enor...

Re: What's for dinner?
Depends what obscure ingredients are for you, tbc. For example, do you make a habit of keeping corn and flour tortillas on hand? Or beans? Or cilantro? Or limes? Or tomato sauce? Or peppers? These are things my kitchen always has, but I don't know if others would. And from these with just a few add...

Yellow got a job offer up in SLC and is taking it. Heh. Funny you should mention that, DL. At work the other day, they announced a new position for an iPhone developer and the first person who came to my mind was Yellow. Doesn't he do that? I think you mentioned something about him programming apps...
