Re: the passive-aggressive friend from #83566 , maybe the asker should stop spending time with her friend like this? It sounds like no one is having much fun anyway. Divya's advice was good but if it doesn't change things then I'm all in favor of Hangry findings other ways to keep up the friendship ...

Re: #83460 - Exercise you love, exercise you hate

I love weightlifting too! I like being able to track my progress as I move up to heavier weights, and I've gained a new appreciation for my body as my muscles have gotten more toned and I've gotten stronger. Plus, being able to lift and carry heavy things comes in really handy when you're moving.

Yep, what Violet said. Get documentation from the accessibility center or disabilities resource center (whatever term BYU uses for it). That way if the professor doesn't make accommodations for you, they can get in quite a bit of hot water from the higher ups.

Chiming in here to say that long-acting reversible contraception is THE BEST. I have the hormonal implant and I love that I do not have to think about pregnancy prevention at all for three years (or whenever I decide to get it removed) and that I don't have to worry about user error. IUDs are so pro...

Also, story time relating to Board Question #83138 ! This isn't just a new thing that's cropped up after Obergefell. My grad school had this rule where if you lived in student housing before a certain date you could live there for the entirety of your degree, but after that date you were limited to ...

Board Question #83107 As for moving in general, decide to like it before you get there. It helps you look for the positive and start off on the right foot. I needed to hear that. My husband and I decided this week to pack up and move across the country next month and I've been, to put it mildly, fr...

He doesn't, but I'm even more strongly in favor of the tell-them-early strategy when there are kids involved.

Re: divorced dating for Mormons

My soon-to-be-husband is divorced. We had been friends for about six weeks before we started officially dating and he told me about his divorce very soon after we decided to date exclusively, and I would recommend the same approach to others. I think it's best to tell about potential deal-breakers w...

unrelated to the direction the discussion is going, but... I just want to know why Charlie and David would want someone who disagrees with their wedding to make their cake? I personally, would not want any disagreement with my nuptials to touch any part of my wedding. I don't think the purpose of t...

I did answer your question "Would it possibly change your opinion?" As to whether I would read what you wrote about those studies, you do tend to be fairly long-winded and it is a very busy time of the year for me so I can't say I'd be up to responding to a point-by-point argument about mi...

Honestly? No, I don't think you could convince me that these studies are wrong. But that's because I'm a social science PhD who teaches and researches these kinds of topics and conducts experiments regularly, and my six years of methods training has led me to believe that properly-conducted experime...

Link including links to studies. Relevant books: American Apartheid (Douglas and Massey), The Cosmopolitan Canopy (Anderson). American Apartheid is denser and focused on quantitative studies, while The Cosmopolitan Canopy is a surprisingly easy and engaging read focused more on qualitative studies....
