Re: Answers I liked

Actually, I've only seen it once and it was at the Hale, too. But I've been enjoying the soundtrack for many years. And I think the whole world is in the same water-scarcity boat: "urinetown" is just the name of the town where it's rumored they take you if you break the laws about when and...

I tried alum. Hurts like crazy is right. And no appreciable difference.

Toothpaste with SLS can irritate your mouth, too. (That's almost all toothpaste.)

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

I've always got a couple. Yay, genetics! But every 6 months or so they grow and spread and turn every soft-tissue surface in my mouth into an open wound. Last time my doctor prescribed me something informally called "magic mouthwash," which has a lot of stuff, antibiotics among them. It se...

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to

Just saw World's End! It was great. I do love that cornetto triology. Plus, this one's violence was even more cartoony than usual, so I was okay watching it unedited. Wooo, no real gore!

Hey DL, I'm trying this tonight. And it has shredded chicken! Don't know yet if it's good, but it's an option.

Re: What's for dinner?

A lot of pizza places will sell you dough, too. I keep meaning to get some from Brick Oven or Nicolitalia's, but I always forget or get intimidated. :) I'll second the regular cookie sheet, especially if you sprinkle cornmeal on it to keep the pizza from sticking. My mom always made pizzas on cookie...

Emperor's Soul and Elantris. I've only read the Mistborn series and Rithmatist, but I liked both

Re: Facial hair on men

Oh, man. I'm usually against mustaches, but my twin home teachers last year could do it. They look like old timey fighter pilots. And since they were both in the ROTC to learn to be pilots, it worked. My uncle can mustache, too. He looks a little like Tom Selleck. And I'm in favor of beards, so long...

Got some antibiotics, took the day off, and got some Sanderson novels. Let's hope it convinces these dang canker sores to get out of here fast.

I made this tonight. http://www.melskitchencafe.com/2013/06/ ... -ziti.html

It was good, but MAN that's a lot of cheese. I might half it next time.

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to

I read the some of the Blogess Blog with my boyfriend tonight and laughed and laughed, and then we looked at the bad taxidermy website for a while and laughed some more. The barrel cat partway down this page is my favorite. http://www.badtaxidermy.com/?page=4 My cheeks and sides might hurt tomorrow ...

You DID make a point of suggesting exactly the types of things she specifically said didn't appeal to her. I don't think it's too shocking that she's still not interested. ;)

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10

Well, my 5 weeks as a longterm sub are over. It was wonderful, and I'm going to miss the crap out of those kids. Hopefully I'll get some other sub jobs at that school, just so I can see a few of them. I've got a good shot at another longterm sub job starting in a couple of months. Hopefully it works...

Re: Carpe Diem

When we finished discussing the poem and I gave them time to do the questions in the book that go with it, I put on my little playlist. Live While We're Young came on first, and the the kids laughed out loud and got it right away. It was perfect. Hooray! thanks for the suggestions.

Carpe Diem

In the class I'm teaching, I'm covering some of those great poems that use carpe diem as kind of a pickup line; things like To the Virgins to Make Much of Time and To His Coy Mistress. In an effort to show that those kinds of arguments are still relevant today, I want to mention a few similar modern...
