In fact, I'm only surprised that I haven't crossed that last square. I guess it is because of how I answered the protectionism question, but I'm too far removed from that to answer it in any binary way.

Even though I agree with the concept, I still think the Political Compass quiz is pretty biased and unhelpful. No one thinks they want to be "authoritatian," and all the questions that lean that way sound slanted even to someone who might agree with them.

It's also confusing because we are pretty used to looking at politics from just the US perspective. Whereas this map plots points for all political parties around the world. If you look at the political maps for recent US elections on the site, the recent main party candidates are all in the authoritarian right quadrant. If you're looking at it from the perspective of just the US it might seem super inaccurate, but in a worldwide sense it's not.
