Don't worry Zed. I appreciated your Archer reference.

And Rule 34 just states "If it exists, there's porn of it. No exceptions." Which doesn't mean "anything could be sexy," it's closer to what TBS said. It just means that sexuality is so varied and people's interests are so multifaceted that if you can think of something, someone has created a porn version of it. Every childhood cartoon you ever loved, check. Any movie, book, or video game you can think of, check. Almost any inanimate object you can think of, check. One might think, "well, NO one could be sexually aroused by, say, condiments" but someone, somewhere, has scribbled a drawing of a bottle of ketchup and a jar of mustard doing it. It's a commentary on humankind's boundless capacity to be aroused.

Is it weird that my main concerns about sexting have to do with internet security and not accidentally sending a dirty text to my boss or my mom rather than anything religious? I mean, I haven't dated anyone since like 2008, so it's all pretty hypothetical anyway. But still.

My former office mates and I a number of years ago played a game called Rule 34, where someone had to call out a random thing and the first person to find a dirty story about it on the internet was the winner. I think the most random one involved Mr. Clean and Betty Crocker.

Occasional lurker here. Just wanted to chime in on this one. A few of you mentioned keeping the pictures safe. My husband has a separate, encrypted folder on his computer just for our stash. And yes, there is a lot in that stash that I don't want my kids to come across. We both enjoy those photo sessions, so there it is. The idea behind sex in a marriage is to enjoy each other and grow closer together, and fun pictures don't hurt that goal. While I sometimes wish I had an experienced photographer take the pictures (I'm good with a camera, but not when I'm in the shot), I'm too cheap/shy to pay someone. To each their own on that one. We also use video chat for his work trips. Nothing is 100% hackproof, but video is less hackable than sending pictures that then stay on your phone.

I think the question asker needs to read the LDS Marriage Bed articles that discuss the difference between what he calls "sacred and profane erotica". Which boils down to what other people mentioned above and in the answers: if it is between husband and wife and they are both comfortable with it, then it is a good thing. Outside the marriage, maybe not so good.

By the way, the question asker didn't specifically state his or her own gender. The question seems even more funny to me if I imagine it coming from a guy, somehow. I'll admit that, in retrospect, I wasn't too sure about this stuff before I got married either, though, so hopefully the person who asked this will someday be married long enough to look back at their own question and laugh, too. Or at least get old enough to not use the word "nakey". Asking internet strangers about it is a step above firmly deciding their friend is evil for taking naked pictures, so there's that. And the "technically I'd have to say 'yes'" sexting is okay line is good, too. She (or he) is trying!
