Thanks for the answer, Zed. Her husband ended up requesting donations to a foundation related to her cause of death, so bringing it up in conversation seems to be the way to go forward (don't want a competing donation squabble!). The candidate in question is a not-(yet?)-well-know Democrat and we are in a highly Republican area, so I am going to be fairly cautious about who I mention it to at the risk of seeming like we're pushing an agenda. I suspect *she* would be totally down with having her name used to push an agenda, but family and friends might not be, and they're the ones still here, so.
