McCain, or Obama?
How about this instead: who is less likely to get us attacked by terrorists in the first place: McCain, or Obama?

Obama.... But I won't debate politics with you. I'm not going to be old enough to vote, and I'm not likely to change anyone here's belief, no matter how strong my convictions or my reasons.

Yeah. McCain might be more likely to get us attacked, but only slightly. There are many terrorists every day what would love to do whatever they can to (in their mind) stupid, selfish, self-absorbed Americans. With that being the case, to be safe and for everyone to stay in their security blanket of "America is awesome, the rest of the world stinks and they should be more like us, but don't come to our country because you'll just be mooching from us," I would say McCain is your best choice. (Yes, some of you will argue you are alright with them coming to America as long as they get a green card and don't come illegally ought to talk to those trying to get one-- it is quite the challenge tied up in red tape for an educated person, nevertheless an uneducated one. Something needs to be fixed.)

Nonetheless, I'm Pro-McCain because of moral concerns. I think that the American mindset does need to be tweaked. You can be appreciative of your country and still think of a person in Sudan or China as being on the same level of importance as yourself.

I am told from a couple friends who are in the military and who also both served in the middle east (one in Iraq, one in Afghanistan)...

The only reason we do not see more terrorist attacks inside the USA is because all the terrorists are busy fighting us in the middle east.

They also say that if we were to pull out, then the terrorists would start making a lot more homeland attacks fairly quickly.

Just their opinion...

DailyKos:
A furious, old, self-important reformist poseur stuck in the previous century versus a young, ambitious, fundamentalist airhead "rogue" "diva" ... who would have guessed a year-and-a-half ago that the wrestling match for the soul of a dying and discredited political party would come down to this?
makes my hands shake just thinking about it.

In all seriousness, how do you see the Obama camp as not valuing citizens of other nations as much?

And I think the fact that one of our most outspokenly conservative Board writers voted for Obama (I will not out werf preemptively) shows just how much the Republican party has betrayed all fundamentals of conservatism. I honestly do not understand how people can call Obama "socialist" and not blink an eye at us nationalizing our banking system at a cost of ONE TRILLION dollars!

. . . now that is hand-shake worthy. ;)

It's easy, just base last minute poorly planned political advertising based on one small statement of your opponent even though his economic plan says nothing of the sort and refuse to say your wrong.

Apparently McCain is so old that he hopes by repeating himself, his long forgotten jedi powers will activate and we will all believe him.

Having a democrat congress, a democrat supreme court, and a democrat president...

VERY dangerous...

They are going to be able to push through whatever the heck they want. The good, the bad, and the ugly...

And trust me... BOTH parties have ALOT of ugly.

At least when things are heterogeneous they keep each other in check.

Politics goes through swings of the pendulum. After 8 years of neocon political dominance, the pendulum will swing the other way. Nearly all political bodies swing between security and liberty. Since 9/11 we've been so far swung towards security that we're bound to swing towards liberty. And eventually we'll swing back.

The neocons have been pushing whatever the heck they wanted through for the last 8 years and have attached the stigma of 'un-American' to anyone who didn't agree. That is just as, if not more, dangerous. At least the Dems aren't itching to "reform" the Middle East by invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 on entirely false pretenses. If the Dems do dominate and it's a disaster, the demographic will change in the Congressional elections in 2 years and the pendulum will move toward the middle.

well said, habiba. i'm sick of being told i'm "un-patriotic" when i mention obama to certain people.

and does sarah palin even know what socialism REALLY is?? because we have a lot of socialist programs in this country. is she gonna get rid of them all? the call to socialism is just using buzzwords so uneducated people get scared. and it's sad that things like that work in this country.

and i had this pointed out to me recently: the neocons haven't created any major legislation concerning moral issues. the supreme court hasn't handed down any rulings completely banning abortion or gay marriage. so are the elected officials really doing what all the people who voted for them want? because i know the people i voted for aren't, and i voted to have them removed.

i definitely think one of obama's biggest gotchas was when he pointed out that abortion rates haven't dropped at all during the bush presidency.

They never do...

Everything pre-election is just to see who can BS better...

The winner gets to do whatever he/she wants in office.

But they should. And there are provisions to remove them early if they aren't. Granted its a time consuming and tedious process but it is there.
