#49832- Car insurance

Post by Fredjikrang »

This doesn't make sense to me. I can understand that the car has to be insured, but it seems like to have any kind of liability insurance, you would have to insure the person as well.

As an example to back up this idea, if only the car has to be insured, than why did I have car insurance on my parents car when I got my license? And not only me, but my sisters as well?

This is how Sauron explained it to me:

"Basically, they didn't insure him, they put him on the car's insurance, since a car's insurance has to do with who is a regular driver on the car. And you also get "incidental driver insurance" on your policy so that if somebody has to use your car randomly and causes an accident, they're covered. In the case of a corporate-owned car, it's insured for any drivers, not for anyone in particular."

I drove BYU vehicles for my work, too. All I did was take a little class and show my driver's license, and I bet you did the same. If we needed to have a special driver's insurance, they would have asked for it, I would hope.
