Tao, I'm not sure which class they were using that textbook in. I figure it's likely a general-purpose textbook, so it probably gets reused in several different classes. Fitting, I suppose. (After all, they're training people to do such terrible things to books!)
Consider it an Easter egg. (I had fun with GIMP doing that; it originally said "For scientists" (with some additional text); I left "For", got rid of the other words, and added "sadists," trying to match the "For". An image editing wizard I am not, but I still enjoyed the result.)

Right you are, I remember now, In Durfee's class it was the Masochist's edition. Same publisher I presume.
