I overheard a conversation at a family dinner where people were discussing a topic I felt like I should know about, but didn't. So I waited for a pause, and apologized that I hadn't heard the begining, and asked what was going on. I was really glad I did that rather than just nod and peice together the clues later. Now I know that my cousin-in-law is starting a new job on Wednesday.
Sounds like it. Incidentally, this is slightly off-topic, but I heard that the board may soon be loosening some requirements on potential writers (specifically, that they may not require applicants to be BYU students anymore), and if so, I will soon be as brave as Unluckystuntman.
I bought haggis and squid ink pasta today. I'm not actually planning on eating them (I couldn't even if I wanted to because they both have ingredients that I can't eat), they're for my brother and my mom, but I feel like just touching those things was pretty brave.

That would be surprising and really cool at the same time. If that does happen, you should totally go for it.

From Yellow: "Unsubstantiated rumor, as far as I'm aware."
