I think the emoticons on this forum look silly and are not very good at conveying the emotion they are meant to.
Example A: looks like he's in pain.
Example B: looks like he's in a staring contest.
Example C: looks more like a smile than sticking out a tongue.
Those are my two cents on the matter.

Re: Emoticons
Agreed. But if they bug you that much, you can change your settings so that you just see the text versions.
Go to : User Control Panel / Board preferences / Edit display options
(I think this link will take you there.)
Then mark "No" next to "Display smilies as images."

Re: Emoticons
I always make my own smilies anyway. I like putting a space in the middle, so they never become images. : ) : P : D : (
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.
Re: Emoticons
The smilies also have oblong faces, not unlike aliens. (That's a point in their favor. )

Oh, I was going to say that as a point not in their favor...mic0 wrote:The smilies also have oblong faces, not unlike aliens. (That's a point in their favor. )
Re: Emoticons
Awww, C! You're not an alien fan? That's okay. Maybe we should just discount it altogether. I've been watching Spielberg's "Taken" recently, so I'm extra into aliens.
