Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
So Katya survived Irene, but can Katya survive Katia?

Lucky for me, it looks like it's not going to do much damage. (My brother has a friend named "Katrina" who is not happy about the post-2005 connotations of her name.)Marduk wrote:So Katya survived Irene, but can Katya survive Katia?

Next Sunday there's going to be lots of broadcasts and tributes to the 9/11 heroes playing all day. The Tabernacle Choir has one with Tom Brokaw that will be playing on NBC affiliate channels a few times- it should be pretty good.

And guess who's going!!!
Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
Sorry Katya, I was assuming some sort of Highlander-esque showdown in which the hurricane would specifically target you in an attempt to steal your awesome researching and organizational skills. And you'd go after its....ability to have high speed winds? You know, force of nature vs. librarian in a battle to the death.
I'd buy that pay-per-view event.

Wait, Craig, was that in response to my post? 'Cause it's already been filmed, it's just being broadcast on Sunday . . .

Looks like the finale of Futurama is going to spoof Voltron. Is there a trope name for the thing so common in Japanese anime where the screen gets divided into little slices and each person, when sliding into view, yells "Whaah!"?

Last night, I dreamt that all the individual forums here got renamed. I can't remember any of the new names, but some of them were kinda long.

I have returned from the wilderness. my leadership class had a retreat to a camp that normally houses children and adults with disabilities. I put marbles and rocks in my shoes to simulate having arthritis, i learned a lot, and i climbed a 40 foot rock wall (TWICE) and did a zipline.

Well, I can't remember where I posted about my plethora of yellow zucchini, so here seems like a good place for an update. Today we picked eight normal-sized zucchinis (hooray for remembering to pick them when they were a normal size!) and two larger-than-normal (though probably pretty normal for an average garden. I always grew up thinking zucchinis were supposed to get that size. Which made for a humorous anecdote when I made ratatouille that called for two zucchinis, so I used two LARGE zucchinis from my garden).

My husband introduced me to Star Trek: The Next generation last night. I'm excited to watch more episodes (and finally understand the inside jokes from the 100 Hour Borg)!

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
I asked the board a question august 31st. It still hasn't been posted. It doesn't say my question was rejected. Why hasn't it posted? I'm getting a tiny bit annoyed at this.
Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
they are probably still working on it. Don't worry, you'd get a message if it were rejected.
Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die
I've waited well over a month for multiple questions. Of course, a lot of them were Editor's Choice when they finally posted, so it was worth the wait.

Ok, that's cool. I'm not sure why it would take so long, but I guess it is kind of a taboo topic. I'll just keep looking back.

Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya at the end of November/beginning of December. It started as a trip to Kenya to visit/work with my friend who's starting an NGO in Nairobi and escalated from there. I also just booked permits to go visit the mountain gorillas in Rwanda. High adventure, here we come!
