It's an emeritus answer. Laser Jock asked me for feedback on the etymology question and it worked out that it was easier to write it as a response to his answer than to have him quote me, so the editors added it separately and credited it to my account.Marduk wrote:So, dearest Katya, please forgive my ignorance, but when did you start writing for the board again?

Gee, thanks, Marduk.
And Katya, I've seen many of your answers in the archives with thumbs up.

Well that's . . . flattering for me, but harsh for the Board. (<- halfway between smiling and frowning emoticon)Marduk wrote:Oh. That makes sense. I almost started reading the board again.

Yay thumbs! (I guess these are my first "fresh" thumbs, then.)Sky Bones wrote:And Katya, I've seen many of your answers in the archives with thumbs up.

Not every variety of reader enjoys every flavor of writer. There just don't happen to be any flavors that I particularly savor on the board at the moment. Not that I think the question askers at the moment are doing the writers much justice, anyways.

Geez, Marduk, just rip my heart out why don't you.

Kudos, Mico on http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/64628/ (The history of Shakespearian costume.) It made all my wildest dreams come true.

re: freshmen mentoring, I think it is still possible to get out of it? I'll have to ask my little brother, since I think he just added classes individually instead of envelopes.

I really liked what Genuine Article said. I liked her perspective when she wrote, "I shudder when nineteen-year-old newlyweds announce they're pregnant, because I know they're making a mistake. Or at least it would be a mistake if it was my life, but it's not my life, or yours either; it's theirs, and what's right for them shouldn't matter to anyone but them. You don't have to be happy for them, but you can at least acknowledge their happiness."
I just wish it were easier for me to actually put this philosophy into practice.

Ha! In my defense, I'd been answering questions for less than a month, at that point.Indefinite Integral wrote:Found this clicking "I'm Board" and Katya's answer made me laugh. Read it, you'll see.
