Autism-Spectrum Quotient
I think we've actually done this before a few years ago, but as we all know, when there's a quiz, we end up taking it and posting our answers. So I will start.

25.
I'm a bit higher than average, but that's not surprising.

Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
21...but I wasn't really paying attention.
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
Not on mobile. I predict low.
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
15 - normal range
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
Normal normal, or normal autistic?
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
Normal normal
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
13. I'm sure it would've been much lower, except social anxieties.

Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
I think I was a bit higher the last time we did this, but med school has actually gotten rid of a lot of my social anxieties.
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
16. Most women are 15. You can be an extrovert and prefer libraries... I felt like it was just testing extraversion, not aspergian traits. My coworkers need this test!
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
Also, quizzes in that format are poorly designed. Too easy to predict what your results might be, and someone like me is constantly self-monitoring. Should be more opaque
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
17. All the math and pattern questions might have done me in, but I guess reading "How to Win Friends and Influence People" three times has done me some good in life after all.

I asked the question, so 45. I'm an introverted math major, and that explains a lot of my answers. I don't know that I'd actually qualify as having Asperger's, although I've sometimes wondered.
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
18, so the higher end of average. I have pretty high social anxiety though.
beautiful, dirty, rich
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
20 - I scored high on introversion, liking libraries (!), and pattern recognition, but when it comes down to it, I'm not incapable of reading social cues, I just don't like socializing because it wears me out.
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
A lot of these questions really needed a neutral option. A theater or a museum? Depends on the theater or museum. People or things? Depends on the people or things.
Anyway, I got 21, so in the normal range.

7 or 8, so low. I was honestly expecting higher. I have weird quirks that mirror my brother's, and he's on the spectrum somewhere worth diagnosing. Not aspergers, but still high functioning, in his case. And I've thought for a long time that I share many of the traits that put him into the category of "autistic." But with both of us it is sensory input issues, and this quiz barely covered those at all.
It doesn't matter what happened to get you to today, beyond shaping your understanding. What really matters is where you go from here.
Re: Autism-Spectrum Quotient
Ooh, I would have been much higher if they'd taken sensory input issues into account.SmurfBlueSnuggie wrote:But with both of us it is sensory input issues, and this quiz barely covered those at all.

35. I'm an introvert with a lot of social anxiety, so it's not too surprising.
Here's another test that gives a score for both Asperger's and neurotypical traits. On this one, I got an Aspie score of 107 out of 200, and a neurotypical score of 78 out of 200. There are some interesting specific results within that. For instance, on social traits, I'm below-average on both the Asperger's and the neurotypical questions. In other words, I don't socialize like someone with Asperger's, but I also don't socialize like a normal person. Apparently a low score on the "neurotypical social" questions is related to social phobia. I got 1.4 out of 10.
