Another point to consider is (unlike Board writers, perhaps) that this woman is not omniscient, and therefore does not only not know the ultimate nor proximate causes for behavior, but whether additional self-knowledge would be necessary or sufficient to change a completely different human's behavior.
People are infinitely complex. Take the example of standoffishness in dating -- I've known a dozen different people this way, and no two cases were just alike. Though it is irritating to see others resist self-improvement, who's to say your priorities are theirs? Tend your garden and all that.
