Seems appropriate that I'm watching The Big Short, which takes place in Q2 of 2007. Hooray for being A Screwed Generation!Giovanni Schwartz wrote:Tomorrow is Portia's 10-year-iverssary of being on the Board board, I just noticed in my monthly lurk.

A throwback from Jan 2008. Fun times.

There's even an important scene from April 2, 2007. First mortgage lender going bust. I was just thinking about flying to Paris later that month!

Apparently a package from Amazon is coming today. Neither my husband or I ordered anything from Amazon, neither of us have a birthday soon either, and no one has told us to expect a package.

Update: The package has arrived! Turns out it is an Easter gift from my husband's parents, one of the big bags of Lindor chocolates!Shrinky Dink wrote:Apparently a package from Amazon is coming today. I'm doing some research for a Board question, and the Board has been recommending therapy since almost the very beginning. Heartening.

Psh, you're just as much of a kid to me as she is. I have memories of Desert Storm, kid.

I was in third grade on 9/11 and I don't remember anything about how politics or airports were before that

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I was a senior in high school living in Germany. I had just come home from school when I saw the 2nd tower fall live on TV. I followed online forum threads in real time as the major news sites crashed from heavy traffic. My base locked down tighter than I had ever seen any military installation ever -- Threatcon Delta. There was a freaking tank stationed at the entrance the next day. I remember that day with a stark clarity.
I appreciate my age.

I remember in the 4th grade the teacher brought in a TV to watch the space shuttle Challenger live. When it broke into sprawling white plumes, I thought to myself "I don't think it's supposed to do that" and I remember the teacher's face. She slowly went up, turned off the TV, and awkwardly moved on to some other classwork.

During the summer my husband works 5pm to 2am, and that really sucks. It's 2 days into his summer schedule and I'm already drinking more beer and eating more chocolate than is healthy out of sheer boredom.

Got into the Eccles MBA, class of '19 on scholarship. So you might see less of me around these parts.
