Ha, I shared that Moon article with a friend, who then asked me if The Telegraph was like The Onion. The story just seemed alliaceous

Re: In the news
just for the record, I've thought of doing something like learn Klingon or even making up my own language to solely use when communicating with my child. That way, I could ensure that he would be as socially inept as I am.

Did you ever read the Wired articles about the guy who tried to raise his kid bilingual in Klingon and English?Giovanni Schwartz wrote:just for the record, I've thought of doing something like learn Klingon or even making up my own language to solely use when communicating with my child. Ha. I think so, yes. But I would raise him monolingual; his only TV show would be episodes of Star Trek with people speaking Klingon.
Re: In the news
Oh dear.
Re: In the news
Are there any Star Trek episodes entirely in Klingon? Maybe you should just show him clips of people speaking Klingon (like the guy reciting Hamlet), because only Star Trek would probably teach him English. (Although many studies have found that kids don't learn much from TV shows in general.)

I think it would also be entertaining to make my child a recluse. He can never leave the house except for church on Sunday, where he will be sheltered from the other children, and school. Don't let him know there's such thing as a "store" or "airplane" or any of this stuff. Just Mom, Dad, home, church, and Klingon.
