I knew some missionaries who kept a pet lizard. They named it after themselves. And then it died, so they kept a pet spider. And then it died, too.

I spent a follow-up consoling them over their loss, once.

There are guys in my ward who have one pet chicken for each of them in the house. They're named after their mothers.

then there was the sister in the ward who was pre-mission friends with one of the elders, so she knew about the lizard, and then one day she told me about how she kept a pet turtle in her bathroom on her mission for OVER A YEAR. Until her mean companion told her she had to get rid of it.

Were these all in your mission Giovanni? I always thought Taichung missionaries were the most righteous.

Ha. The turtle was before we were righteous. (It was like 10 years ago). The lizard... that senior companion later became AP.
