See, I think creatively naming your kids is fine. AS LONG AS YOU DON'T DO IT LIKE THOSE PEOPLE.

That reminds me of an in-class discussion that came up a long time ago in an English composition class about how some words that described disgusting things actually were nice-sounding words if you could forget about their meaning. Like Chlamydia. Find someone who doesn't know the word at all and say to them that you met someone named Chlamydia and see their reaction for me :)

what's a veiralle innfeqshinne? I mean, I get "phonetically" and all that. But why is it spelled like that?

Because it's easier for Utahns to understand "veiralle innfeqshinne" than "viral infection". It's just a lot simpler to simultaneously mock their baby naming habits and allow for comprehension than to spell it right and them say, "what 'chew tawkin 'bowwt?".

Says the Californian with the unusual name.

It isn't really that unusual. Also, it isn't spelled really weird.

It is just usually a nickname for a longer name, just in this case, it isn't. It happens with my name too. (except mine is a nickname.)

Are you named after someone else? Because it peaked in popularity in the '70s.

wait, while we are having slack-jawed amazement at this beautiful state many of us live in, check out this local paper, especially the part about fundraising for a hunting wheelchair! I... am amazed that such things exist.

Nope. My Dad just liked it, and my mom was in charge of middle names, so it ended up as ____ Anne. It has an "e" at the end for Anne of Green Gables. But my Dad pronounces it wrong so when he says both of my names it's ____ Ann(i)e , so they flow better/rhyme.

This random fun fact is brought to you by the letter S and by the number 20!

Did Random tell you that that's her middle name too? Same spelling, and I'm pretty sure for the same reason.

My middle name is also Anne after Anne of Green Gables....weird.

My mom's is Ann, so it's kind of after her, too.

And I've never read Anne of Green Gables.
