I'm related to a prolific polygamist who founded a town or two in Utah (in fact, anyone from Utah with my mother's maiden name is likely my third or fourth cousin). Aside from that my only known claim to fame is that Elder Oaks' second wife is my grandfather's cousin.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

I'm descended from Adam and Eve! I found them on Family Search!

Edward Partridge. Through Edward Partridge Jr and his daughter Emily Partridge. How about you? Does your ancestry go through Emily or Edward Jr?

I'm a descendent of Rev. John Lathrop, which has turned out to be a very common ancestor and I end up being related to a surprising amount of my friends. He also has many famous descendants: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Lothropp#Descendents

I'm also descended from several (I think, like, a dozen) people on the Mayflower. But only one we have been able to prove without doubt. But that means I can still be part of the Mayflower Association!

I'm related to my parents. They aren't famous, but they should be because they're awesome.

...So when the question came in the inbox, I just asked my mom who I was related to, and so my mom got confused with Edward Partridge I guess, because I'm related on my dad's side, but it's actually just a descendant that married my grandmother's cousin, so that one doesn't really count anymore. Oops. But everything else I checked out. Sorry, Vorpal. That would have been cool....

That's disappointing to me. We could still be related through others, however. One of my ancestors married a woman who crossed the plains pushing a handcart.
