Copyright issues with crochet patterns

Post by Emiliana »

I own this book of crochet amigurumi animals. Would it be legal for me to make animals from these patterns and sell them for a profit? (I'm kind of looking at you, bob.)

It depends on what the creator of the booklet says. Lots of people are happy to allow you to sell your creations from their patterns and say so. If they don't say so, then would be breaking copyright to sell what you make.

If there's no explicit yes or no included in the material itself, I'd try contacting the author. If you aren't allowed, what you can do is change the end product enough to make it your own.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

The copyright page doesn't say, so I'll try to email her. Thanks!
