I think the implementation of common core can be very poor as well. My 3rd grader has been getting a lot of math homework that says things like "how did you know the answer to the previous question?" which I think is a great type of question. But she has never once got that question marked correct by the teacher. By nature that is a very open ended question with multiple correct answers, but the teacher seems to be working from an answer sheet that someone else provided and my 3rd graders answers are too dissimilar to the provided key. Any new program will have these kind of implementation issues, which is part of why I feel that changes should be well thought out before being implemented nation wide.
