Reader Response to Music Recommendations

Post by Claudio »

I was thinking about it today and realized that over the last year or so, I have recommended a lot of music. So have Foreman and Cognoscente. I've taken a few of their recommendations and have found them greatly rewarding. I have wondered, however, if any of the readership has actually gotten/listened to any of the music any of us have recommended. If you don't mind, share with us what you've listened to that we've listed and what you thought about it. Thanks!

I pretty much always read through the lists, but I haven't checked out any of the stuff recommended, except for that mix that Cog did a while ago. I actually posted a pretty through review of what I thought about it on here. . .I'll have to see if I can find it.

Overall though, I do remember that I liked the mix. There were a few songs that I didn't like very much, but they were in the minority.

I have a unique and broad taste in music...

Chaotic techno like Aphex Twin
Trance/Electronica like Cascada, Moby, BT, etc
Goth metal like Nightwish or Within Temptation
Indy like Weezer
Very specific rap such as Will Smith, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, or Fort Minor
Acid jazz like Jamiroquai
Orchestra such as John Williams, London Symphony, etc
Pianists such as William Joseph

Pretty much anything really...

But of everything, I don't much care for any country at all... Perhaps one song (Online by Brad Paisley) but that's pretty much it...

An entire genre and I only like one song... yeah, country sucks that much...

Did you hear about the MC Hammer/Vanilla Ice concert at the McKay Events Center next month?

I see Glenn Beck but no MC hammer concert...

I don't always love it, but I usually at least listen to the stuff you guys recommend. I think the best groups I've heard about from the Board are Belle and Sebastian, LCD Soundsystem, and Neutral Milk Hotel. So...good job with that.
