Re: 92217 - maintain identity with kids

yeah I think the question asker has more issues than just being a SAHM. It's stressful for anyone to have to be responsible for an entire household 3/4 of the year. She says she's not depressed and doesn't want to get a job, but her comment about "not being made correctly" makes me wonder ...

Kevin J Worthen's middle name is just "J". It doesn't stand for anything.

Re: #91343 2 Nephi 5:20-21

I agree that ideally we would hear from a black Mormon about these verses, which are racist. But I think we should still talk about race issues even if we don't have black people present, otherwise we risk ignoring them. At the same time, we should follow good mourning etiquette which is "comfo...

Re: Churchy Faithy Stuff

How is life going for you, Whistler? It's going pretty well, although from this and other threads you can see that sometimes I find church frustrating and my daughter's babysitter suffers from depression. Whistler isn't an anonymous identity anymore, so I shouldn't be so wary about revealing person...

Re: Mental illness is dumber

I have questions for those of you who have experienced suicidal thoughts. My daughter's babysitter recently attempted suicide (!!), stayed in a mental hospital for 10 days, and is undergoing outpatient treatment. I asked her if she felt up to babysitting next month and she said she wanted to as long...

Re: Churchy Faithy Stuff

I'm taking a two-pronged approach of waiting for the older generation to die out / trying to change my ward as best I can from the inside. After listening to Sharon Eubank's talk this past conference about the importance of friendships within the Church as well as learning to articulate our opinion...

Re: Churchy Faithy Stuff

I'm in primary and I find that it's easier than attending SS/RS and getting worked up over whatever thing. I also try to focus on how church makes me interact with people I wouldn't normally interact with. I strongly believe in community and I hope that your ward can give you some group solidarity e...

Re: Mental illness is dumber

It's like the version of myself that I am least comfortable with has now been confirmed to be the true one. That is existentially horrifying. At least if the diagnosis is accurate, it explains some of your mental health sufferings despite your best efforts to treat it. Now there's a reason and a pr...

Re: Mental illness is dumber

yeah, out of all the diagnoses, I think if I were diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder I would be a little freaked out. I feel like people with BPD have a stereotype for being untreatable or really unreasonable in relationships, and that's unfair. I just read on Wikipedia (sourced to the D...

I haven't watched it either. But tangentially related, the anime "Orange" is about a group of friends who get notes from the future asking them to prevent their friend's suicide, and it is super cute. I'm kind of scared to see how it ends (like, even if you had a really supportive group of...
