Re: BQ#91905 Crazy shopper wife

And I only get new furniture when someone leaves something nice by the dumpster. :)

I could not handle being married to a person like this.

Re: Pronoun Used When Self-Thinking

According to Queen Victoria's granddaughter, Victoria said she'd never said that (to the granddaughter's disappointment).

Re: Question #90281 -- things you mix up that others don't

Along those lines, after living in Missouri in three years, I sometimes slip up and say "whenever" when I really mean to say "when." As in, "Whenever I went to Elizabeth and Matt's wedding, we all had to wait for a while because they had forgotten to bring along their weddin...

Question #90281 -- things you mix up that others don't

https://theboard.byu.edu/questions/90281/ I always mix up Simon & Garfunkel and Gilbert & Sullivan. I definitely know the difference between them, but I always have to stop and think about which musical G&S duo with two- and three-syllable names I'm trying to say, or I'm sure to say the ...

Re: First piece of news you remember

On second thought, I kind of have an earlier memory. When I was 2 or 3 years old and living in Tucson, I had a really vivid nightmare about being kidnapped by a man who took me to his house, chopped me into pieces, and placed all of the pieces in labeled drawers that already had the pieces of severa...

Re: First piece of news you remember

The first one I remember is the Challenger space shuttle disaster in 1986. (Obviously, I'm a bit older than most of y'all.) Shrinky Dink's story reminded me of the time (probably about fourth grade) when I asked my mom what abortion was. She wouldn't answer me, but told me to look it up for myself i...

Re: BQ#87973 - Nicest thing a stranger has done for you

And another story: This year, I went to Dubai to visit my cousin, but my phone died just arrived I made it through immigration, and I couldn't find her anywhere around the airport. (The Dubai airport doesn't have any kind of designated visitor pick-up spots, and is just really confusing in general.)...

Re: BQ#87973 - Nicest thing a stranger has done for you

When I was in law school, I was doing interview trips across the country basically every weekend, and I was completely exhausted. One Thursday I flew to California after classes, arriving at my hotel at about 9:30 at night. I was super tired, but also really hungry, so I went down the restaurant in ...

Re: Worst beverage you've had

In India I tried a "health drink" that was absolutely vile. The most predominate flavor was beet, but there was other gross stuff in there too. My dad doesn't mind beets as much as I do, but even he thought the drink was truly disgusting.

#82508 -- friendly guy who doesn't get the girl

Re: Question #82508 I like Vienna's and Zedability's answers to this question. However, I think there's likely something else going on here besides girls just wanting the emotionally unattainable guy. One good possibility is that the friendly guy is too slow to express a romantic interest in the gir...

Re: Requirements for Monson Scholars

I went through the Hinckley Scholar selection process around the same time as NerdGirl, back in 1999. I had a 4.0 GPA, 1600 SAT, 35 ACT, lots of extracurriculars, and terrible interviewing skills. I didn't get the scholarship. (I graduated from college with a 4.0 GPA too, so there's a datapoint with...

Re: Wedding Registries in Inviations

I consider myself to be quite tech savvy and I never once thought of googling a couple's names to find their wedding registries. Am I just completely out of the loop, or are other people on board with me? I never would have thought to use Google to find a wedding registry either. I find the inclusi...
