82403 Lying Police

[emerges from hiding] I sat in on a panel for LTUE this year about law enforcement and I got to hear from someone (Robin Ambrose, if my notes are right) who's worked on the lawyer end of things when it comes to cops and cops messing up. She said that sometimes a cop would tell a suspect that their f...

Whoa, whoa, hold it there, Concorde (this is why I shouldn't post things in the wee hours of the night). I did think that answer was amazing. Like super awesome amazing. I just remember reading the first part and being confused when I got answers to questions that I never asked and I couldn't see ho...

Re: Answers I liked

Confession: I asked the Harry Potter question. I was a bit irked that Concorde spent so long about things I didn't actually ask about (and I disagree with the idea that Harry was immortal since he still got injured frequently and a huge chunk of rubble is going to squash any baby's head if it makes ...

I've been all over Methods of Rationality these past few weeks, it's a bit ridiculous. But I haven't been planning to go to a party for it (unless 'twere to happen in Provo).

Re: who's geeky and how?

I regularly consume media of the following non-exclusive categories: science fiction, fantasy, young adult, book, movie, tv, cartoon, anime/manga, webcomic, writing podcast, musical, music, computer game, and fan fiction. Outside of the actual consumption of said media, I squee a bit about things, e...

Plane crashed into Settlers of Catan, I learned how to be a Level 98 Paladin while a Mariachi band stole my i-pod and the flight attendants hosted Fight Club at 30,000 feet.

Alternate version of the Voldemort verse: The Voldemorts on the bus go come to die, come to die, come to die. The Voldemorts on the bus go come to die all through the town. Actually, I think I've got a few more of these: The Holmes on the bus goes elementr'y, elementr'y, elementr'y. The Holmes on th...

Ward choir with tone deaf people. I just can't stand it when someone is perpetually off (and that there is no chance of them getting better) and I wish I could discourage them being in the group. Grrrr. People like you are why I hate that our church has so much singing. I spent my whole childhood l...

Come on people, a library is a library! I've literally gone to the HBLL just to walk the shelves when I don't have the time to read but I still want to say hi to all my papery friends.

I discovered the &c. as a high school sophomore from an old book I read and was so excited about it that I used it in my next essay. I was a bit miffed when the teacher marked me down for it.
