Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm, announces Star Wars Episode VII
I was freaking out all day yesterday. I'm still freaking out. I think it's good news, at least until the movie comes out. At this point the possibilities are infinite.

Re: Does vomit smell like flowers?
I think it's so interesting how apparently our aesthetic judgments of smells, tastes, and fluids are learned — poop and vomit and boogers aren't inherently repulsive—it's a learned response. Anyway, I associate certain foods's smells and tastes with vomit, which sometimes makes them difficult to eat...

Re: taxes
Ok, this isn't actual tax advice, yadda yadda. (When I say "you" what I really mean is this is what we did for our own situation, okay?) Krebscout and I have dealt with this kind of stuff before from working freelance, and the one thing to keep in mind is that anything that you made for wh...

Re: Violence in Movies
Here's a screenwriter's perspective (UCLA professor Richard Walter):

I think it's quite a bit more complicated than that, but don't really have time to get into it right now...

Re: Sexual content vs. violence
I love this conversation. Thanks for being smart, everybody. But I've never before had the experience of watching QUALITY media, something challenging and smart and important, that I wish I had not watched. Just because of how it's affected my thoughts and daily life. And I think this experience ha...

Virgin Mobile is really cheap—I haven't used them, but I would if I were getting an android phone. They use the Sprint network and offer unlimited data and texts. Check it out here: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/cell-pho ... -plans.jsp

1. When you are comparing men and women working in the same jobs, they get paid about the same. According to this article, http://www.iwf.org/blog/2432979/Gender-Wage-Gap-Is-Feminist-Fiction , wage gap nearly disappears "when controlled for experience, education, and number of years on the job...

Re: #65668 - Documentary recommendations
Ooh, I love getting and receiving documentary recommendations. I'm TAing a documentary history class and have been really fortunate to be able to see 3-4 docs a week over the last few months. Recently, I'm really impressed with The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Exporting Raymond, Koyaanisqatsi, No Lies,...

I HATE ENDNOTE
but I use it for every paper because it keeps track of all my citations.
but man, is it the world's most awful product. I'm always needing to muck about in the settings to create my own citation style to make it conform to real citation guidelines.

Maybe James 1:26 is relevant:
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

Re: Regulation Stifling Business
I think the main question here is context. Sure there are industries that need regulation reform. But a lot of people will read this article and think "less government regulation everywhere!" would be a good solution. Some areas are broken, and some areas are working fine. I don't see the ...
