Re: How I met the 100 Hour Board
My story isn't particularly interesting. I was bored reading about physics one day the theory of relativity. I started discussing it with my co-workers and none of us had an acceptable answer for why time flows differently in motion as opposed to not. My co-worker then suggested the BYU 100 hour boa...

Re: Serving Alcohol While a BYU Student
Am I supposed to quit working at movie theaters that show rated R movies, stores that sell wine, or companies that work on sunday (even if I don't)? Shoot, I'm screwed. I used to work custodial at BYU, and my shift was 10:30pm-2am Sunday through Thursday nights. BYU made me break a commandment! But...
Re: Big Words
Honestly I would prefer someone talking smart to me than having to dumb it down. That's kind of degrading. Admittedly, I do the word a day thing to try and find big words to put into conversation at some point. My intent isn't to offend anyone or sound smarter than I am, I just like learning and hav...

Re: Books in a Family Library
I think the Ender's Game series oughta be thrown in there. It's a good read for a younger crowd. In fact, I think that book series was what pulled me into serious novel reading and the like.
Also the Orson Scott Card book "Treason" is a good one too. I just liked that one.

Re: Serving Alcohol While a BYU Student
Yeah this topic is familiar of the Kirby thing too. I think the people getting upset at Kirby, frankly, are just being prudes. I honestly don't think it's an issue, and I have a huge problem with a lot of BYU's rules but that's another story. I think the person should be allowed to do whatever they ...

Re: Breastfeeding During Class
I don't think there would really be any diversity when it comes to kissing in the classroom. I think that can be universally said to be inappropriate and unnecessarily distracting. To the credit of the mothers, breastfeeding is a necessity but the question then becomes whether or not she should be a...

I fought a pack of bears with my bare hands to save a group of orphan children from a burning building perched on top of a cliff which resided on a fault line.
Yep.

Re: Big Words
I couldn't tell you with any surety but I'm pretty sure it was just from reading for me. My mom would read to me when I was a kid, ranging from "If you give a mouse a cookie..." to Goosebumps and I would always follow along over her shoulder as she read. The result of which gave me a stron...

Re: Introduce Yourselves!
Evenin' Folks! Not at all sure what to say about myself. Having read Marduk's introduction, I think he might be my doppelganger. So if you'd like to get a feel for my personality, go ahead and read his except for a couple caveats. I can't cook to save my life. And as important as the church is to me...
Re: Big Words
It's an interesting thing. For my work I have to write scripts to present training presentations and more often than not I use words that are not in common vocabulary, but perfectly describe the action or thing I want to describe. I end up being forced to change those words because nobody can unders...

Re: An Odd Trend In My Adventures With Kissing
My guess as to the reason for the shaking would be adrenaline. Kissing releases all kinds of endorphins and adrenaline, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that you're shaking because of it. *shrug*
Re: Big Words
So, for as long as I can remember, people have had issue with me using "big words". I generally get the impression that they think I'm trying to use big words to make myself sound smarter, or to be condescending, or whatever, but I'm not. I'm using them because when I do, it is the word t...

Re: Breastfeeding During Class
A somewhat brash thought just occurred to me.
Why is breastfeeding okay but it's inappropriate for a woman to talk in mixed company about her period, or men to talk about their bowel movements? They're all just as natural as breastfeeding are they not?

Re: Trying to invite someone to Institute
It's possible, but it doesn't always come easily. When I think back on all my years of visiting teachers, I can only think of two girls who I would've actually considered to be my friends. Why? Because we talked and laughed and really visited with each other, instead of having this uncomfortable fo...

Re: Serving Alcohol While a BYU Student
I don't think any good standing LDS members should be a bartender by virtue of the fact (if I recall correctly) the person has to know what it tastes like in order to serve it. You can't be a chef without tasting your food, a tone deaf musician, and likewise cannot be a bartender without knowing wh...

Re: Breastfeeding During Class
I often wish there was some sort of church ward that offers the environment of church without the kids involved. I suppose that sounds awfully Catholic of me, but being in the single's ward and not having crying babies during the sacrament is nice. If only they would allow childless married couples...

Re: Who is ruining this country?
I think the fact that politicians get so butthurt is what's ruining this country. Nobody is willing to work together anymore. There's too much dog-faced politics with people not even willing to talk to each other because they're liberal, or conservative or whatever. Reason has gone straight out the ...
