Re: Libertarian and Political Leanings

For me it depends on how libertarian we're talking. I agree that the emphasis on the individual is very important, but I also believe that most individuals are and always will be fundamentally flawed in their capability to reason the right decisions. To emulate a pessimist, I largely think people ar...

Re: Less-than-Excited BYU Freshman

I'm not sure how much of these little stories she wants to hear, but I may as well share mine. So both my parents had graduated from BYU and my brother had been (still) going to BYU. By the time it was time for me to get to college, I was kind of lucky in that I was lazy in high school so I didn't e...

Re: Saving seats

My general rule has always been that you can save as many seats as you can reach with your hands from your own seat. After that, it's fair game. I think it's pretty rude to save seats for more than a few minutes though. If the person can't be considerate enough to come on time, they don't deserve th...

Re: Courtship long, engagement short

I used to think that a long engagement would be a good idea, but everyone tells me that it's 'supposed' to be a long courtship, short engagement. I see them much the same honestly.

Re: Ideal Ward Calling?

It has to be a plausible calling? That's really not fair, cause I would think the church is already pretty well set on needed callings.

I would like a calling like Church theoretical doctrine....ist. Cause that would just be cool.

Re: The inefficiencies of Capitalism

If we're talking about a philosophical utopia, I can only imagine that it would breed socialism by it's very nature. For a utopian society to exist there has to be no difference is class or stature in a community, and as such we'd all have to be on the same level of wealth and living. I can see abso...

Re: Cooking with wine

I would think that the inspiration of church leaders is subject to some interpretation.

Much like two different people could read the same scripture and get two different meanings out of it, I can see two different authorities have the same revelation and interpret it differently.

Re: caffeine

I've never really viewed caffeine in conflict with the WoW so long as it's used in moderation. I kinda view it like any other sort of drug I suppose. Sometimes us junkies just need a hit to get us through the day. When I was plumbing and doing security I would occasionally have to work through the n...

Re: Spaghetti sauce

Here's another point: what if you do either meatballs or simply ground beef in your spaghetti? Then you have to use another pan entirely anyways to brown the meat. I know that isn't what you said you were doing, but if you're going to have to pans anyways, might as well just add the sauce to the me...

Re: 58195 - Feminism

You wanna know if someone is a real feminist or not? Ask them if they'd like to eliminate "women's suffrage". It's baffling how many self-proclaimed feminists don't know what suffrage is. I would hesitate to label myself as anything because people associate terms differently as they do wit...

The way I've always understood it is cooking with alcohol's mostly burns off the actual alcoholic portion of the food barring pastry type things. My dad and myself have cooked with numerous beers, wines, tequilas, etc. I can honestly say I've never been tipsy or hammered from anything I've ever cook...

I say skip the wedding altogether and grab a piece of paper from the courthouse. Then it's 100 bucks (or whatever it is for your license) and you're done.

Spend that money on an awesome honeymoon.

Then again, I've never really used twitter.
