Going grey....
I am 29 and going grey. I've dyed my hair semi-regularly for the past couple of years, but now I'm considering letting myself grey gracefully. In all other respects I look much younger than my age and this might be my opportunity to FINALLY STOP GETTING MISTAKEN FOR A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT. But I'm no...

If you're looking for a good mostly-choral program, look for an Episcopal service. It'll have communion (which you can take if you want or not take if you don't), but probably mostly really good music.Portia wrote:If I went to an LDS service this Sunday, what would expect? Re: lovebirds' passwords
I know some of my husband's passwords and he knows some of mine. It's just for convenience, nothing quite so dramatic as destroying our individual selves. :P That's what my wife and I have done. We started giving each other passwords whenever it was more convenient than keeping them a secret. Ditto...

Re: Rant of the Day
Migraines are the wooooooooooorst. I had a reprieve for about a year when I switched from the pill to IUD, but I had one almost exactly four weeks ago, then one again today, and I am wondering if it's hormone related even though I don't have periods.

Re: Avoiding an ex
Yay! I'm glad that worked out for you to go without seeing him.
I think some of us, the way our minds and emotions work, are just not built to be friends with exes.

Re: Avoiding an ex
I'm not going to say you *shouldn't* go, but I would be sympathetic if you chose not to. I had an ex whose presence triggered panic attacks for most of a semester and it was hell. Some of my friends thought I was being petty or immature, but .... it was hell. I had to quit going to a lot of my frien...

I have been researching all the down-ballot races on my ballot, and boy is it tedious to look up 2-4 candidates on each of a million judge races.

Re: What makes you happy today?
I've been vaguely out of sorts the last couple of days, nothing huge, but little things kept going wrong--I overslept, the copier jammed, a pile of paperback books fell out of my cabinet, I'm behind on grading, that sort of thing. And also, there is still a chance that Trump will be my president in ...

Re: What makes you happy today?
We went to visit my in-laws in Ohio over the weekend, and my husband and I were both kind of stressing about it because, well, the in-laws can be stressful. But it ended up being fun! The highlight was going out for a run in Amish country -- we saw as many horses and buggies as we did cars, the tree...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I just wish there was a better word for it. Or that "partner" was a more widely accepted term for unmarried but committed relationships, so people wouldn't feel so weird about it. When in Spanish you could try "mari-novio?" It's a made-up word, but it conveys exactly what the in...

So I typically have a significant amount of work to do on Sundays grading papers and prepping for class. There is usually a bit of anxiety involved, but in some ways having concrete tasks to do on Sunday helps me mentally ease back into the week. This weekend, for various reasons, I actually DON'T ...

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
This article about coastal cohabitating Millennials hating the word fiancé made me think of Candid non-Canadian and the sudden rise of the term partner. I don't know if this is tied to geography or socioeconomic status or friend group, but I personally would throw up a little in my mouth before ref...
