Retiring Writers
To all of you retired writers here; When you retired, what is the process you went through? When you stated your intentions to retire, did you lose your writing privileges immediately or did you have time to finish a last few questions and get things squared away? I'm sure it is a little different o...

Yes. Better, in most cases, indicates all of these.Waldorf and Sauron wrote:Fiend,
It's not about studies, it's about standards. Does better mean higher quality? Cleaner? Longer lasting? More affordable? More accessible? Yielding more in quantity? Funded in a fair manner (and that depends on your idea of fair)?

Re: Censorship
I wonder if the writers were informed that there was a "warning" or if to them the censorship shot up without any apparent reason. I assume that the writer whose content caused the warning was told, but it is anybody's guess if the other writers were told "we got a warning, and we are...

Re: Libertarian and Political Leanings
Amen to wired's comments on the podcasts. Both very interesting, and I agree with his summations of them. I would also like to add that (like it has already been mentioned) that the Libertarian "Party" doesn't have a firm stand on abortion. The interviewee has his own opinion which he proj...

Re: Libertarian and Political Leanings
@ Sauron, I'll be listening to the podcasts to let you know what I think.
@thebigcheese No, not really. It is more of an ideology than a party. It would be cool if there was a party that had actual political clout and could get libertarians elected.

Re: Public Bathrooms
@marduk I just didn't feel like dredging up all of the studies that give merit to my observations. I'll be posting a nice list soon. @ krebscout I think my brain went on a tangent. Sorry about that What I mean was that your point is moot because not everyone has to build those things. A company or w...

Was it the Bourne movie? You are thinking about Arandur? It did happen in Europe if I recall, thus agreeing with TGD's answer. I want cookies if I am right!

Re: Public Bathrooms
While I agree that there are certainly things that work well as public projects ie national defense (private military groups are better trained and equipped and don't have as many restrictions, but they work better on the small scale (which what our military should do most of the time anyways)). But...

Public Bathrooms
I have been wracking my brains trying to come up with something "public", that is better than "private"... so far, no dice. Here is my list so far:
Bathrooms
Schools
Roads
Displays of Affection
Military (as far as technology and ROE)
Heath care
Pools

I always thought the Communist anecdote, " the party will shoot you and charge your family for the bullet" interesting.

Re: What has Mormon art come to?
I never called you a Republican. I never said anything malicious about the tea party. As to whether Clinton or Reagan increased taxes more, it depends on what metric you look at. Ditto to whether you believe Obama increased the deficit more; I said PERCENTAGE INCREASE OF THE DEFICIT, and by that me...

Re: What has Mormon art come to?
Hrmm, Puck, did you graduate from the Ronald Reagan school of economics? Regardless, the point is, to say "we believe in smaller government" and then spend billions on the military is very hypocritical. What they should say is "we believe in less social programs and more military.&qu...

Re: What has Mormon art come to?
Minimalistic and abstract art has always intrigued me. If this painting was done entirely free-hand, without the aid of rulers, levels, painters tape, etc it would indicate immense skill. It would be on par with White on White or Black Circle. The exact proportions of the areas and the straightness ...

Re: What has Mormon art come to?
Lessee, Clinton balanced the budget, and had tax rates half of Reagan, who was responsible for over eight tax hikes and yet managed to have the greatest percentage increase of the deficit of any president, ever. I'm sure you meant the greatest increase of deficit before Obama. I'm also sure that yo...
